    Oil

For most of us, you can just look at the front of the bottle, most mfrs, and see the multi facet star for the stinkin epa. This indicates the gasoline oils they removed the zinc and phospho from. But, I do not like them for either the small engine that all, imo, have flat tappet, and what...

1970 Fury HP Exhaust Manifolds Burn Valve Cover Paint

Gotta give em that, the chryslers were interesting at top end.....different than ford and chevy. They would roll. Early on I moved from plymouth to chevy. For drag racing, chrysler shifting was a challenge, and in 70's with the damn new process, all you did was replace shift forks.....not...

1970 Fury HP Exhaust Manifolds Burn Valve Cover Paint

When in HS in Fairfax, I spent my fridays drag racing. And, there was a group that would gather at 2am on sunday, and run the 70 miles around the new 495 beltway. Just wondering if you 68Pk might have been involved in that game. I just had to be on the look out for fairfax county in...

South Carolina history of this car....help from old timers

Thanks Delta, Bob was a great help, nice discussions and we narrowed this old sticker down to about 92. And, I got a 66 Va sticker for my project, and it takes me back.

    Dumping gas

A friend with big block fords forever, likes to raise the back of the hood with small block to increase airflow.....has done this for long time and it helps. But, with a known offender, maybe couple little things if weather very hot, first is let it idle for short stops, and second is to crack...

    Dumping gas

Your points do remind me that if I could, I would wrap the exhaust manifolds and some down pipe, I would. I did that on an MGA rebuild that had more tube headers, and it did not look horrible. But, would help underhood.

    Dumping gas

From experience back in the day, on a hot day, with a hot engine, the problem called vapor lock would occur when you shut down for a while and then try to start back up.....and it aint goin easy. What I do not recall is whether you also had a lot of fuel smell. But, always interesting today...

    Dumping gas

With all of the underhood heat on these beasties....I kinda agree with CBody (hope that comes from Classic Beauty Body and not Pear body....but I digress). But, I added some heat shield tube for the fuel line from the pump....horrible ugly stuff, but will work. I did this to reduce chance of...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Still amazed at your analysis....well done. I dont disagree with the point on the size of the new AVS, and that may be true....not sure, but the OEM AFB was a bit smaller, and of course, designed for street work at low rpm and not performance......and the new stuff moves to performance. So...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Exactamundo.....but how in the world does this help in this case....aargh. And further, the points made by CBody regarding the air jets and flow around a closed throttle plate....esp since now, with no added vac at idle, it means the throttles must be opened more to get the speed back up. I...

What I need is more parts from you, when the bank says I can go for it!

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

One more happy note this sunday morning.....just went out for short hot run. And recently, after my front engine work, it would hardly run when hot, in gear. So, after more adjustments as above, down the road, and again, I am feisty and like to include a slow start in first, hammer it, shift...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Raymond, forgive me if I get this wrong, since you and I discussed a lot of different options, some relating to your great rebuilt distributor....cant thank you enough. I am very happy that you have limited my mech advance to 16 so I can keep the initial high at 18. And yes, I did go back to...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Well, I have been doing this as avocation, and some other related work on steam and gas turbines and more for a long time. But, I am always surprised to see how poor my skill is when folks are so well informed as seen in this note above. Impressive. So, I had thought that during hi vac...
