Expansion plugs and pinion seal help

Thanks so much for the information. I did go back and measure the original pinion seal. The top ring had peeled off but the remaining section measured 0.375 so I'm assuming with the top lip it would be 0.500 thickness. Looks like the CR18662 should be perfect. Thanks so much for the help!!

Expansion plugs and pinion seal help

Thanks for the comments. I measured the O.D. of the yoke and it measures 1.873. The national 5126 had the right I.D. of 1.875 (just not the correct outside diameter). National 5126 is 1.875 x 2.813. My old pinion seal measured 2.744 for the O.D. So, looks like I'm looking for a 2.75x1.875...

Expansion plugs and pinion seal help

Good morning, I'm working on my 1959 Dodge Coronet. I ordered a pinion seal from Rock Auto and was sent a National 5126. This seal has an outside diameter of 2.81 where as the original was 2.74. I could feel and see that the replacement was actually larger but I tried to install it anyways...

1957 dodge custom royal front brakes questions

I agree with 70NEWYORKER, those spring attachments, at least on my 1959 Dodge and 1958 Plymouth, are moved in/out by the adjustment cams on each side to push/pull the brake shoes. I just finished rebuilding my brakes on the 1959 Dodge and had to turn the cams all the way inward to get the new...

    1959 Dodge 326 Engine assembly

Checked all the bolt holes using a long screw driver. All of them bottomed out with the same length...so looks like no sealant needed. Now time to get busy and get this engine built.

    1959 Dodge 326 Engine assembly

I'm ready to assemble the used engine I bought to replace the locked up engine from my Coronet. I've used a straight edge to verify everything is within 0.004 tolerance with the straight edge on the block and heads. I've also chased all the head bolt holes and I'm ready to assemble. I looked...

    1959 Dodge 326 - pushrod question

Good morning everyone, I recently acquired a replacement 326 engine for my 1959 Dodge Coronet (the original was locked up on 2 cylinders). One thing I noticed on the replacement passenger side cylinder head is that the 4 intake valve pushrods will not come out of the head (they move around...

Need help identifying which brakes on a 1959 Dodge Coronet - 3 platform type brakes or standard brakes???

Did not know that. Probably better for even braking but sure makes brake work more complicated and expensive....haha.

Need help identifying which brakes on a 1959 Dodge Coronet - 3 platform type brakes or standard brakes???

Yeah these brakes are complicated with 2 wheel cylinders per side. Very similar setup to my 1958 Plymouth.

Need help identifying which brakes on a 1959 Dodge Coronet - 3 platform type brakes or standard brakes???

Thanks. In the manual and on RockAuto they list 2 different set of wheel cylinders based on 3 platform type brakes vs standard brakes. See picture from the FSM below. Based on those pictures from the FSM, I was thinking they were the 3 platform type brakes. Thanks!!

Need help identifying which brakes on a 1959 Dodge Coronet - 3 platform type brakes or standard brakes???

I pulled a front and rear wheel and removed the drum on my 1959 Dodge Coronet. I was expecting it to be easy to identify but I'm just not positive. I think it's the 3 platform type brakes but wanted to confirm with the experts here. I'm also curious where the best place is to buy brake shoes...

Question about a stuck 326 Dodge engine

Got the heads pulled today. Cylinders look better than expected. Don't see any major scoring, rust or ring ridge. Still could not get the engine to turn over. Valves look a little rusty.

Question about a stuck 326 Dodge engine

Was able to pull the intake, distributor etc today. Tomorrow will pull the heads. Looks pretty gummy in the engine...especially the exhaust cross over. Definitely best I'm pulling the engine.

    Car lifts

I have four post lifts, the mid rise Maxx Jaxx 2 post lift and a midrise scissor lift. Each has it's pluses and minuses. The 4 post takes very little set up but without a bridge jack it's harder to work on brakes/suspension etc. The mid rise scissor lift is nice but you can't do anything to...
