    1966 Dodge Monaco

That looks like a distribution block. Top line is from MC, two on right side are to front brakes and line on left goes to rear brakes. If this is correct, there are no moving parts inside, hence nothing to "go wrong". It seems you are still using the single MC.. If this is so, you should upgrade...

    1965 fury front brake

If the master cylinder is not returning enough to clear the relief port, pressure will not release. Could be a weak spring in the MC or problem in the booster. Also, what if a residual pressure valve in the MC is failing? Have you switched to a dual MC? You should- for safety sake! AMHIK!! Lindsay

    Steeringbox acting strange...

Check the FSM. There is a "high spot" at the center position where the gear mesh is tighter. Procedure is to disconnect the pitman arm, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, counting the turns, and return it to the exact center position before setting the preload. If something is bent or...

Question about lower control arm and torsion bar

Remember that the only time there will be movement at the point indicated by your yellow arrow is when the adjusting bolt is turned to set ride height. other than that, the assembly moves as a unit, held tight by the torsion bar preload. The space you pointed out is "set" when the shaft is...

    Sway bar bushing help

I was able to fabricate a grooved bracket to match the factory bracket I had. I bent the bracket from flat bar, cut a slot for the key and welded a strip of steel over the slot. Job done! Lindsay

66 windsor power drum brakes hanging up

Is the pedal sticking, or being pulled down by a faulty booster. I'm no expert on power brakes, but I do remember, on one occasion, having to drive with my left toe under the brake pedal to prevent the booster sucking the pedal down. Just a thought. Lindsay

1972 Polara passenger side front disc lockup and smoking

Compression fittings are not approved or safe in brake systems. The systen can fail under high pressure, like a panic stop. double flare is the way to go. Lindsay

    Rear Brake Trouble

Big John covered my ideas (and more), but I would add the parking brake. If it is not releasing completely, it could allow the self adjusters to over-adjust. Lindsay

Sway Bar Link Bushings, 1971 Fury GT

This is off topic, but may help someone. A few decades ago, I installed a foot operated switch on my drill press at work. I found it to be great. Didn't have to fumble for the switch if (when!) a bit jammed. I wired the foot switch in series with the exsisting switch. Since then, I have the same...

    GABRIEL Hi-Jacker OR MONROE Max-Air

I have had springs re-arched a couple of times with great results. Both times the springs were dis-assembled and the leaves reshaped in a roll type machine. in each case a new (extra) leaf was added which extended the full length of the main leaf, eye to eye. The springs on my Fury were done...

    Lifting a Convertible

No matter what you support the car with, the two major concerns are first SAFETY, then access. Each method of support will restrict access to some part of the vehicle. Ramps have a large footprint. I use jackstands under the frame for some proceedures, but cribwork (like Big John suggested...

    Lifting a Convertible

When I was 16 (in the Dark Ages!) I "blocked" up a 54 New Yorker with what I had at hand- some bricks. While I was under the car, the bricks shifted and a rear spring came down on my chest. When I tried to wiggle out, the bricks seemed ready to collapse even farther, so I waited for help. Seemed...

What's the best paint for steel rims?

I agree completely with all the above safety warnings. Read labels! I worked for years in the laundry/dry cleaning industry. Perchloroethylene or hydrochloroethylene are the names of the dry cleaning fluids we used. Breathing the fumes will get you "high" very quickly and causes neurological...

    1966 Chrysler 300 Master Cylinder

I've never seen one, but the FSM shows a single pot master cylinder with an "add on" extension to increase fluid capacity (?) for disc brake models. Might this be what you have? If you don'd have a FSM, you can download a free copy at mymopar. com. They are invaluable! Lindsay

    1966 300 convertible help!!

The rear port on the master cylinder should be connected to the front brakes and the front to the rear. The factory system with 4 drums and dual master cylinder does not use a proportioning valve. It does use a safety switch which is used to control a warning light on the dash in case of a loss...
