    Uhaul trailer hitch fitment

Having fabricated and installed hitches, I'm sure our cars are capable of hauling trailers in the range of two tons and a bit more. A weight equalizing hitch with sway control and proper trailer brakes are necessary. 3.23 gear is a big plus. Having said this, remember the age of our cars and be...

1969 Fury I turn signals were slowing down now dont work

Is the battery negative grounded to the engine and the engine grounded to the firewall (body) behind the right cylinder head? If so, is the ground to the body good? I have solved problems in the past by replacing a frayed cable and/or cleaning up connections at this area. On one car, I even...

1969 Fury I turn signals were slowing down now dont work

A relay does not eliminate power demand. Think of the starter. It is the heaviest load in the whole system. If it did not recieve that heavy current, it could not crank the engine. That circuit contains a starter relay which lessens the load in the starter switch and, along with the solenoid...

    1970 Fury I stripper!

Great work, great project! I'm not sure how old you are, but we are not teenagers! Look after yourself. At 71, I say I can still do most things I used to do- it just takes longer! Lindsay

    How crazy am I?

In 1993, I drove my '66 Fury from Moncton through Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and home. I should mention that I was hauling my 18' travel trailer. In all those miles, I...

    1970 Fury I stripper!

Businesses are profit motivated- They need to be, or they would not survive. That being said, stringing a customet along is unethical. Someone, somewhere will have a lead on a good shop or even a good engine. Keep moving forward, you have come too far to turn back now! Such a cool project needs...

    Battery cables

I have observed the harness wrappiing tape as well as the fabric tape. Are these available, if so where? Thanks for the info! Lindsay

    Battery cables

Splicing tape is probably better than hockey tape. It valcanizes to itself and becomes pretty much a solid wrap of rubber. 3M makes one brand. It comes in a roll with a plastic ribbon between the layers. Should be available at any electrical supply company. If I can remember, I will get more...

    Engine noise help

Since we're grasping at straws here, here's another straw! Seems that the splash to lube the back of the gear/front of the block would be from the front cam bearing. Is it possable that the oil supply to that bearing is restricted or absent? If, when the chain and gears are off, you removed the...

    Engine noise help

Two thoughts. I'm sure you have had a good look at the inside of the timing chain cover, right? Second, if the cam is warped or the face the gear mates with is not true, it could cause the gear to "wobble". Sounds like you are already suspecting this. You might check for this with the cover off...

    1970 Fury I stripper!

I'm "old school" in almost everything. I admit to being that. Painting the rad black is probably the best plan. My question is as to the consequences of adding another metal to the system. I like what you are doing. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Lindsay

Always remember that if someone else can do it, you can too. All you need is the knowledge, tools and determination. Ask questions, read your FSM, and be patient. We are all still learning and most are willing to help each other. FSM is available at mymopar.com. Questions are answered here. Have...

    convertible top mechanism - service

In my experience, our cars use group 24C or 27C batteries. The 24F and 27F have the posts on opposite ends for "F"ord vehicles. The battery cables on a Mopar will probably not reach the posts. Something to check out. Lindsay

    Medina, a 1971 T-code Monaco

I have had less than great results re-lubing dry bushings in small electric motors. As this seems, in my experience, to be the most common problem, any tips or instruction would be appreciated. Lindsay
