    1975 Imperial master cylinder

Is the master cylinder issue that there is not enough fluid in the non 50/50 master cylinder to run the system? How do these master cylinders split the braking without a proportioning valve? I imagine it's internal to the master cylinder to some extent. I was under the impression that you wanted...

    1975 Imperial master cylinder

I picked up a complete 75 imperial rear end off of a local demo guy. He called me as he knows about my quest for rear disk on my Newport. Not realizing that I would need the master cylinder to make the rear disc work like factory. I was thinking of using a disk brake proportioning valve, or an...

8.25 sure grip, with disk brakes.

This also might be helpful to other people. This is the compatibility list from Oreilleys for 8.25 posi. There's over 300 different kinds of vehicles that came with a 27 spline 8.25 sure grip. This sure opens up a lot of territory for me to search. PowerTorque 722B715A - Posi Unit | O'Reilly...

Upgrades to a formal (77 Newport)

Are you talking about getting an 8 track radio to play an Ipod? I saw an Instructable one time where a guy took his old garage cassette player and soldered a head phone jack to the magnetic head that read the cassette tape. Basically doing the same thing that one of those cassette adapters does...

8.25 sure grip, with disk brakes.

So an update, I have found that this swap is very popular with the jeep guys so finding these backing plates at a reasonable price has been a challenge. Success though, found them for $35 on craigslist with new rotors. Unfortunately he had already parted with the new calipers. These have a...

8.25 sure grip, with disk brakes.

So I have been reading that 1st gen Dakotas pre 95 with 5 lug 27 spline axels have the sure grip diff. I also saw at an off road site that they can swap 93-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear disk brakes on to an 8.25 rear end. My thinking is that I could use the 27 spline axels in my 76 Newport, the...

That is a big back window, my mom had a 78 and it was hot in the back seat in the summer. Some tint would sure have been nice.

What are your favorite formal upgrades?

What are your favorite upgrades to a formal? The first is usually to scrap the Lean Burn and get an Eddy. That's what I did anyway.

Market for new lean burn computers?

Thanks for the input on this! This came up with this idea after some casual research for a car project. I found that some people were updating older vehicles with current sensors to provide data for a custom digital dash. Speed, RPM, Fuel/Air mix, temps, and throttle position. This lead me down...

Market for new lean burn computers?

I have started getting into playing around with Raspberry Pi mini computers. I think that I could build a new direct replacement for Lean Burn set ups for under $100. Does anyone think there are enough Lean Burns left to make this worth while for people, or is the conversion just the best way to go?

Just purchased a 77 Newport Coupe. Your advice, comments and opinions needed!

Great car, the price you paid is certainly fair I would say. My 76 Newp coupe was only $1500 but it needed another $3000 to get it road worthy. Heck it still needs AC work, heater core replaced and the wipers fixed. I love it though and I drive the ever lovin crap out of it. Best purchase ever...
