As some of you know I am still searching for a blue or turquoise 70 Sport Fury GT.

In the meantime I have bought an ER6 red one with buckets and console.
It will be fixed up to be a driver till I find the right blue one for my collection

Before I get bad mouthed: The Ford Pick up doesn't belong to my but my buddy Martin who is into Vettes. Despite that a nice guy.

It has mostly original paint.
Luckily for me it is a non AC car.
It will need a lot of work till it is back on the road but I hope it will be done till the end of the year.

Nice! Is this the one that was for sale a year or more go that had been sideswiped in the rear left hand quarter panel?
 
we have a spare bumper, end cap and an original quarterpanel.
But the body guy said he can fit it without changing the quarter

ok, here is the full story.

The SFGT was for sale near Sacramento in 2014.
It was sideswipped and not running because the ignition lock was messed up.
So the engine condition was unkown.

It came with a huge amount of parts:
two full quarter panels (one original, one old repro)
complete trunkfloor cut out of another car
a half roof cut of another car
spare hood, floor panels, x-tra bumpers, valances
lots of other smaller and bigger parts

To me it was a bad package to handle. The unkown engine condition held me back and the extreme expensive cost to ship all the other parts across the ocean and "how" to transport the stuff. It would have cost a fortune.

In fall 2014 I was at vacation in California and even have been in San Francisco so I was less than 100 miles away from the car. I was tempted to see it but knew I would buy it being there so I stayed away trying to be smart.

In january a dutch friend informed me that a 70 SFGT is coming to the netherlands.
I asked for a pic and got it.
There it was again.
It has followed me home to europe somehow.

It was owned by a dealer who ships complete containers out of the US so he threw the parts into several pick ups and delivery vans to get them over.

Being north of Amsterdam it was in the neck of my woods (150miles away).
After it has followed me to europe I had to go and see it.
So I drove up with a friend of mine.

As expected I fell in love when I saw it in reality.

It was owned by a dealer (Gerard, nice guy) who ships complete containers out of the US so he threw the parts into several pick ups and delivery vans to get them over.

So the last big question was the engine.
We worked on it for hours but couldn't get it to run.
But we came to an agreement: I buy it as soon as it runs (and doesn't knock bad).
So during the week the seller got it to run with the help of some local dutch Mopar friends, I drove up again, we started it and the deal was done.

It stayed at the sellers place till all parts arrived and was picked up in autumn last year.

There hasn't been done much yet. We will have to start soon

That's a good looking car Carsten, ER6 is a great colour. That would work for me.
Is it going to get a repaint?

Dave I love original paint.
So I try to avoid it.
We will have to do a partial respray on the quarterpanel with the dent but I want the repainted area as small as possible.

I have a new stripe to fix the needed area on the quarterpanel
 
I hope to someday be able to afford to buy a fully restored SFGT from Europe or Canada. God knows you can't get them here! Great score as usual. Stop for a visit if you ever vacation on the east cost of the US!
 
He must have some talent to fix that. A new quarter would seem to be required.

it really looks worse than it is.
Here is another pic.

It is really just wrinkled in the end of the panel.
In the worst case we would cut off a small section from the other quarter panel and swap a part but definetly not a full quarter change.

There is one in my future, I can feel it. I just gotta get to that B7 car Before Carsten does
