Here's a great California long roof. I have no relationship to the seller or the car.

1966 Chrysler Classic mopar station wagon

A real beauty! Looks way better silver than it would powder blue.

That's quite an achievement and honor, Jer, to have a car go across the block at a Scottsdale B-J premier event.

I like the hitch on there

Yes, it has a hitch, but it doesn't look like it's capable of pulling a big trailer. Is it mounted to anything more than just the tail end of the car ?

It's attached to the bumper mounts so it should also be attached to the frame rails. Should be strong enough for anything you would haul with an old wagon.

I get a real kick out of some people:

>>all original except paint, 440 TNT, 4 barrel, 365 horse, new valve job with hard valves and seats, factory buckets, factory duel exhaust, new rally's and bfg Ta radials, front disc brakes, duel circuit brake system with gtx booster, rebuilt front end, rebuilt steering box and p/steering pump, new front and rear shocks, new rear springs, new u-joints, front and rear sway bars, set up for towing, p/steering and trans coolers, custom rear hitch, and trailer brake controller, new heater core, new radiator, water pump and all hoses, new classic auto air a/c system. <<

All original except paint... and a new valve job, rallyes and TA Radials, rebuilt front end, steering box, shocks.... I think you get the picture. If it's new it ain't original! Other than that it's a nice car!

Snotty;
Agreed. Assuming any sixties-era MOPAR is driven regularly and has not been in a museum display for 40 years, a better way to describe the car is, "...repaired and refinished as needed on a regular basis with OEM equivalent materials, parts and colors. Unibody, sheet metal and glass are among the original items." I've seen some restorations that were like a Ship of Theseus; virtually every part replaced in an identical manner.

Well let's get it here while its still up.

SELLER DESCRIPTION (Re-structured to make it easier to read)

This car runs and drives great and is a real head turner, very hard to find one in this condition. 18,000. No trades.

Based on what I see (or cannot see) in this pic I dislike this hitch. It's a 9-pass wagon, so there's a footwell just forward of that hitch (but maybe all wagons are like that?) and I can't see anything forward from the hitch to the framerails. I see something by the RR wheel, but looks like a helper spring.

So if there's nothing except what we can see, IMO the dynamic loading from accel/decal of a trailer could eventually fatigue that hitch along the red lines. It's thick, and the gussets help, but it's a vulnerable design. Put a drop-ball hitch on there and the moment-arm on the hitch gets even worse. And the fact that it's thick metal might make the next guy think it's stronger than it is.

1/4" x 3" flat metal running from the end of the tubing to the top of the bolted plates would help immensely. But I'm hoping there are 2 straps running to the framerail...

If that blue paint is original to the car, it's condition is outstanding.

I see what you mean but if welded correctly. this job looks like professional quality, then once the bumper is reinstalled it should be fine for loads up to 6/7K lbs GVW. Beyond that other factors need to be considered, such as suspension limitations.

I think that's a repaint Matt. Is that a little overspray on the harness....? Very nice, very clean

So you think maybe repainted its original color and then color change to silver? Quite possible, 50 years is a looong time!
