Looks like some rich guy in a checkbook T hotrod plowed into the line where all the Thunderbolt wannabes were parked. The throttle return spring from AutoZone fell off his 600" stroker from Jasper.

Yup. At least when it happened to me I was young and had a wide open long straight street. Let's just say I learned real quick where neutral and the ignition off were real quick. Never had a run away for more than a second since.

Though my guess is he started it in gear.

I'd feel really bad if they were stock. These not so much since so many parts are not stock anymore.

I heard that the throttle stuck, and he steered into the Fairlane and Comet to avoid going out onto the crowded boardwalk. Guess it happened so fast he didn't reach the key in time to turn it off before it hit. And I heard that both the Comet and Fairlane are both owned by one person.
the coupe was part of a special display of American Graffitti tribute vehicles and this was at the end of the event. The movie stars that were signing autographs had already left the area, but the lane for the display vehicles to leave was clear as it had been blocked off for the line of fans waiting for autographs earlier.

Seems so many forget about "neutral" which is faster

Yeah, when it happened to me one time, I put it in neutral, and then the sound of the engine racing made me think the engine would blow before I could shut it off. I was only 16 at the time. You can cover a lot of territory between the moment it happens and the moment you reach for the key or shift into neutral.

That's a shame. Lot of work represented by those Three vehicles. Fortunately no one was injured.

WTF. Tell me one fugging thing positive about your photo.
Three classic cars gather together on a beautiful day for a spot of tea????
STFU.

But that wasnt your point, your point was negative about someones financial status and mechanical ability.........presuming.

AND IF not then How about, no one got hurt .........

and NO!

Way back when I was in my early twentys I had a diesel packer run away with me. I was going down hill when it happened. I hit the kill switch quickly & nothing happened. It was really starting to gain speed so I then pushed the shift lever into netrual. Didn't gain any more speed, but then the engine really took off. Was a Detroit 318 with dual stacks right behind the open cab. I stood on the brake & it finally stopped without hitting anything. The job site mechanic saw it happen & came rushing over. He climbed up on the machine & reached for the throttle assy & put a rag over the injector. It finally stopped, but not before the smoke from the stacks went from thick black to white. He told me it probably burned all 8 pistons. Was not a fun thing to go through. Thankfully nothing was in my path because a run away 4 drum roller is not very manuverable.
