The door handles on the later c bodies are super fragile, mine broke on the thin little die cast arm that actuates the latch linkage after the latch seized up from sitting over 20 years. I ordered one from eBay but I decided to try and fix the old one. I drilled and tapped 2 10-32 holes on the broken piece, 2 more on the handle body, cut a piece of sheet metal and drilled matching holes in it, ran tiny set screws in one hole on each piece as locator pins and finally screwed the two halves to the plate with pan head screws. The handle wants to stick open sometimes from the screws rubbing the handle frame, but it actuates the door... at least for now. I have a backup handle now but in the future these parts are gonna be super hard to get so these type repairs are necessary.
