This 1970 Chrysler Newport Custom is an exceptionally clean and relatively low mileage original condition vehicle. I have owned it for about 17 years, and it is one of the smoothest, quietest vehicles I have ever owned. It rides very smoothly and steers tight and straight down the road and brakes powerfully and quickly with power disc brakes. The engine is very smooth and the transmission shifts smoothly and crisply. The seats are very comfortable and are like new, with the original herringbone teal cloth interior material and supportive foam padding. The instrument panel is very clean and in very good condition and the dash pad is excellent. The carpets are original and the factory floor mats are included with the car. The door panels are good except the driver door panel is starting to show sun damage near the top of the door. The chrome is presentable and the paint is shiny, but it really needs to be repainted because the paint is getting thin and shows some age related defects. There should be no need for any significant body work since this car is very straight. The biggest flaw is a small dent just behind the driver door near the character line. There is no rust on this car, and it is a California vehicle. The trunk floor is solid although it shows some very slight surface rust as shown in the photos.

Virtually everything works in this vehicle - the power windows (although the rears are slow and need lubrication), the a/c gets real cold and the AM/FM search-tune radio works as well. I have tried to keep this vehicle well maintained and in the recent past it has had the transmission selector shaft seal and pan gasket replaced and the bands adjusted, the suspension was rebuilt around 80K miles and a very high efficiency radiator core was replaced along with other more minor maintenance items. There are no leaks from the driveline. I added an aftermarket temperature gauge to supplement the cold/hot warning lights that still work as well. The engine is the original 383-2 barrel V-8 that it came with and it is very smooth and quiet, and the exhaust system is in good shape and even the rear resonator is in place and adds to the overall silence of this vehicle. The 235-70-R15 tires appear to be in good condition as well and there are new shocks in the rear.

Overall, this is a really nice vehicle that you can drive in full comfort just as it is and it has provided very reliable operation for me over the years. It is a good looking vehicle right now, but with a new paint job and having the bumpers rechromed perhaps, it would look near show quality I believe. All the trim is in very nice condition. In my eye, this Newport Custom is a striking, good looking vehicle that garners attention where ever I take it. Reserve is very reasonable and consistent with today's market conditions. Please ask all questions before you place a bid and make sure that you will be able to complete the purchase if you are the high bidder. The vehicle is sold as is with no warranty or returns. A $500 non-refundable deposit will be required within 48 hours of purchase and full payment due within 7 days. Bidders with less than 10 feedback need to contact me about bidding or your bid may be cancelled. This vehicle has a clear title in my name. Overseas bidders are welcome.

That is one sweet Newport. Very clean. I hope it doesn't end up with some bone head who yanks the motor out of it.

Beautiful!

Doesn't want to disclose his location with heavy emphasis on pitching to oversea buyers.
Plus:
The tires appear to be..
"Appear". Flipper-speak.

I already know he wants twice what it's worth.

I hope it doesn't end up with some bone head who yanks ...
Nope. Setting sail soon....

Dollars to doughnuts the reserve is insane and everybody knows it and not bothering...

Maybe not Stan. Look at his feedback and see the 71 NY'er 4dr HT he sold. It went for $4400 and was very clean and appears to have been worth the money. Of course time will tell. If it goes reasonable it just might go to me!

Just by chance I happen to know a little bit about this seller and he is very trustworthy with his descriptions of the cars he is offering for sale. This far have I not heard anyone being disappointed

The question here is not how nice the car is. We love it. It's what is the reserve. 90% of the time that's the stumbling block.
So where is it?

First thing to do if it goes to AZ will be a set of Road Wheels to be put on :)

The listing says Southern California, and it says the owner has owned it for 17 years, so why do you really think he is trying to flip it?
