What year those could be ordered? Is there points where to attach those in all cars.
Any1 has picture of them.
I want to upgrade -69 2d ht newport belts.

We restore Seatbelts. Rear shoulder belts were offered as an option. They were mounted to the rear package tray support.

As far as mounting them there should be two dimples in the metal of the tray support where they would of mounted.

There is a knockout on the package try (at lest there is on a 69), seen in the lower right corner of this panel.

(the four screw holes are for the CHP lights and the wires ran through the enlarged hole in the lower part of the speaker.)

rear shoulder belts were not mandatory until 1990 model year from what I can find. did you see another car that had them? what i mean is why/what did you see that makes you think there are such a thing?

i dont know if there was or was not, but id guess not if it was a test question.

Here's a 70 Dodge Polara/Monaco order sheet.

And yes there were shoulder belts for the B&E bodies. Not sure about the C bodies

Is this original place for them? 1971 Monaco 4d.

Did you ever get an answer to your question? - I think the '71 Monaco rear seat there has aftermarket belts. If that car is "Suomi-auto" those belts might have been installed by the dealer - Aro-Yhtymä Oy - who installed many custom options to the Dodges they imported. It was more economical to import the cars as plane jane versions, and equip them here, as the car-tax was based on the price at port.

Aro-Yhtymä even went as far as importing base Aspens without upholstery, with only seat frames. Low car-tax -> lower selling price. They then built the interiors, including seat foams, here in Helsinki, and called the result "Aspen Special". The seats had firmer padding than in the US models, and the whole interior was wrapped up in velour.

People keep talking about package trays, but I don't see you asking about the rear seats. Are you asking about fronts? If so, I would advise not to do it. I have them on the '73 Gremlin of my Son's, and we had them on the '73 Maverick my folks bought new. They do not retract and if you adjust them to hold you in place you can't reach the radio, or much else, without releasing them. To let them hang loose so that you can reach things defeats the purposes of having them on.

That's my 2 cents.

As for ragtops, they were not included because there is no roof; has nothing to do with a lack of a package tray. However, my car is equipped to have had them. Yes, I have two fasteners and one that inserts on my driver's seat, and three and two on my passenger seat. I display them at car shows. People who notice will ask why the car has so many belts! Ha!

The original poster was asking about the rear ones, which Big_John was nice enough to provide confirmation of their optional existence. A fact that I was unaware of. Just to confirm, your '70 Newport convertible has provisions for three points?

I've been thinking about how I could put shoulder belts in the vert, I'd love to see pics on how that works.

I didn't even see the word "rear" in the title - D'oh! Went back and looked; yep. OK.

Yes, my front seats have all the belts for the car if it were a hardtop or sedan - the lower ones. The passenger seat has three connectors, one for lap, one for the middle seat, and one for the (missing) shoulder belt. I've always wondered if somehow the person who installed them seemed to miss the fact that the car was a convertible. The extra connector on both front seats have no purpose - beyond a hilarious discussion at a car show. The insert section for the middle seat/bolster is on the driver's side.

The only way that would work, short of mounting them to your door, or getting an extremely long belt to mount somewhere in the rear of the car, would be to find some modern seats that had the shoulder belt mounted in the chair itself, like on the newest Chrysler Sebring ragtops. (I think it's a shame Mopar stopped making those.)

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a picture that, however if you are determined I think that the cross brace that holds the pump would be a suitable location to mount them. You would probably need to fabricate some risers or L brackets to get them above the seat.

Ha, that is hilarious, I can just imagine the guy going to install the roof belts (last of course) and slapping his forehead laughing then looks at the extra lap belts, shrugs his shoulders and says "oh well, gotta keep the line moving"
