Woof! Where to begin with this one? The seller got rid of the original seats because he didn't like them! A host of horrifying mods (depending on your POV). A proper restoration likely would be prohibitively expensive. Yet are the bones there for a respectable ride with low initial cost ($2k for car without the driveline)? If that body is solid--admittedly a big IF.

40 DeSoto Sedan Family Street Rod Project Car
IF THIS or ANY of my ads are still on Craigslist, THAT MEANS I STILL have them for sale, okay? IF THAT is the question that you ask, I will take you for a spammer and won't answer, okay? . . get more personal, I am sick of spammer junk in my junk mailbox. . . Put JIM in the subject line IF you want me to answer for sure!
I AM SELLING THIS NICE OLD RELIC AT A LOSS! ! !
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE AD. . .THIS IS A PROJECT CAR GUYS! ! !
I am willing to sell this old '40 Desoto car for CASH, or Barter even up, OR take what you have in trade, if I can use what you've got; and IF the deal is reasonably right. . . with or without the 66 FORD Mustang 289 engine and/or the 69 Mercury Cougar auto transmission.
FOLLOW the PHOTOS to see part of the story of it since I bought it. . .(actually I traded an old Nash club coupe car for it, as I wanted a 4 door daily driver). . . I have nice wheels as you can see in the first pics with tires mounted that go with it, I have others too, but I feel THESE go the best with this style of vehicle. . (I tried several sets before I settled on these)
I sold the old original seats, (as I didn't like them), but have taken the Leather Seats out of my 1999 Deluxe LTD Explorer, you can see them in one of the pics; they go with the car, along with 7 full yards of Beautiful NEW two tone gray vinyl upholstery, and many other parts; for the RIGHT deal. I am rebuilding a Ford 289 engine, .030 over, mild cam, most new inner parts, Ford 4-bbl aluminum intake, Mustang headers, etc., etc.
I will sell with or without many of these parts and adjust the price accordingly. I bought a C4 from a 69 Cougar for it, also . .
I installed an Explorer 8.8" Traction Loc, (posi) rearend, with Disc Brakes, springs and all, last fall. Too many nice parts to list here. Price is $2500 with the Exp. Rear end, up to $4500 with every thing else I have for it, including the rebuilt engine, aftermarket aluminum radiator, etc., etc.. These prices are a fraction of what I have into it altogether.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING UPDATE:
I am only 5 miles SOUTH of the Iola Car Show grounds. Car was in my garage, for about a year; but outside now; best to make an appointment to see it all. - - as many parts are still in my garages.
IF there is something I have with it that you don't want, (everyone is different and have their own ideas), then we can adjust the price accordingly and I can either use or sell them. As I have people wanting engine, tranny, seats, etc. . .
Do NOT expect to get this car for dirt cheap, as that won't happen. (I have way too much into it for that). But I will sell it very reasonable, and/or barter for something I can really use. With ALL the stuff I have for it, I am asking only $4500, or down as low as $2500 without engine, tranny, front Ranger stub, upholstery, etc., but does include those nice wheels and tires, and those beautiful restored, rare, expensive bumpers, and also the rare grille; and of course the FORD 8.8" Traction Loc 3.73 geared rear end with the big disc brakes. . .etc. I still have the original rear end and springs, IF you want it too. . . I will sell without wheels, tires, etc., also. For less even, maybe $2000 or less. . . let's talk.
You may call or write with questions too. . NO texting available though.
Emailing is best for me, however you may call my LANDLINE from 10 am to 10 pm daily. . . at 7one5-4six7-2six77. Can best catch me in here between 10 am and 1 pm. Otherwise talk to my answering machine. . . NO cell phone out here.
NO EARLY morning CALLS, please.
I have an answering machine, but no long distance out of here, so be specific, or I won't waste my calling card money to call you back. . .sorry, but way too many tire kickers and spammers lurking around. Otherwise write, and if you do, put JIM in the subject line to be sure I will not take you as a spammer, so I answer you.
