My new `67 Imperial Crown Coupe!

Rear springs/shocks, get the Auto Pilot and Sentinal lighting working and continue driving it everyday that the weather permits.

It was also a falls view room!

hey matt. ditto..bummer on the flatbed thing but its seems the CC did well overall.

I gotta rap with ya a bit later about my fuel issue on my CC...its kinda p*ssin me off and I don't have the mechanical expertise to challenge my guys on why.

See you smartly stayed on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls...American side is struggling but trying, but still not as cool as what's going on on the Canadian side. :D

1,220 miles in 5 days and I only had to spend the last 16 miles on a flatbed...
fuel issues that I'm still trying to figure out, much improved after a new pump and a reroute of one section of fuel line that was close to the exhaust but I think I'm still vaporizing fuel out of the carb. Here's a kool pic from the ninth floor of the hotel in Niagara Falls.

Have you gone for all the obvious stuff? Plugged fuel filter? Blown the fuel line out from the tank forward? Does your car run at all? Just guessing, but a trip of that length will do a good job of jostling all the fuel around in the tank and any of the fine silt that accumulates could have gotten stirred up into suspension and has ended up depositing itself in the carb. You'd need a fuel filter that could handle 1 micron or less to get that stuff and AFAIK, nobody makes one. Most fuel filters are only good for about 10microns.

Can't recall: Did you put a "new" tank or a `new to you' tank in the car? "New" tanks will have a coating in them to keep the ethanol and water from eating the inside of the fuel tank and rusting it from the inside out. Otherwise, you might be looking at a trip to a rad shop to boil the tank out and then getting it coated to seal the steel.

That's a great view Matt! Very nice for you and your GF.

Tell me more. What's going on over there? Wife has been wanting to go to NY and maybe visit the falls

I always give the pitch for the American side of the falls...

It is different.. If you like touristy shops and spending money, the Canadian side has that and a big casino to boot. The American side has nice parks and you can walk up to the edge of the falls... or go down to the base and get yourself wet.

My suggestions are always the same, spend some time on the American side and walk around. Do the Cave of the Winds, the Observation Deck and go out on the islands. Take the tram if you don't want to walk. Relax and enjoy the falls. Park for free just up from the falls and pack a picnic lunch. Do the Maid of the Mist (from either side, same trip).

When you are done there, go across the bridge to Canada. More and better hotels and they have a great view of the falls. If you want to give some money away, there's the casino and stuff like Ripley's museum. Pay to park at the tower and walk down from there. It's cheaper and you want to go in the tower anyway. I like to get a hotel north of the falls.

Eat lunch at the Flying Saucer on Lundy Lane (a couple miles south), Don't eat near the falls (either side) and when you are all done, head north up towards Niagara on the Lake. Try the Ice wine. It's a nice little town with shopping and great places to eat. Try the Ice wine. Have some fun and try the ice wine. Did I mention to try the ice wine?

People put the American side down... and they are right, the Canadian side has more to do and when you get away from the park, the American side is run down. The park though... Its really nice and so much different than the other side.

By the way, Mrs. Big John and I are headed to the falls next month for our 10th anniversary! We were married there!

Big_John got to you first. I cannot argue one bit what he said. Do what he said and you cant go wrong...he's right on the mark.

I would only add try to see the Falls at night (from either side), walk the path on the American side from the "Rapids" right up to the edge..its awe-inspiring, and if the American park museum is open check that out...gets you into the history/geology of the Falls in a neat way.

If you have time, and if they still do tours, the Niagara Power Plant is quite the sight...its a bit technical for vacation-fare, unless you folks like that sort of thing.

Skylon Tower: if you get a chance and its clear day, check out the observation deck...perhaps skip the restaurant despite the panoramic view (it slowly turns while you're dining..the view on a clear day/night is spectacular)

I lived in Western NY for 15 years, just 30 miles from the Falls. Niagara Falls NY, USA is nice, but not as "shiny" as Niagara Falls, ONT, Canada to me.

The American city has a "faded glory" look/feel about it...not a terrible place by any means but I just keep wanting it to be "more like it used to be" 30 years before. The City and NY state are working hard, step by step, to improve its appeal.

I can see how my initial comments might be construed as a "diss" of the American side..that was not intended.

Bottom line...Go, have fun!

I've never done the power plant tour... I'll have to look into that.

Yes, the falls at night!

Love the shot of the parking lot Matt! I have a hot fuel issue too. Gonna install a new pump and check out the lines underneath by the exhaust.

New pump(it did need one), the filter after the pump is new before this trip, I added one just before the pump, abandoned an original steel line that runs through the frame rail and comes out pretty close to the exhaust down pipe and replaced it with rubber and rerouted away from exhaust. Blew out the last remaining steel line, raised the float level in the brand new 1406 and got rid of the brass weight on top of the check ball under the squirters. The lines from the pump to carb are all new. The gas tank is original and I've not had it down and that is on the agenda. I did notice some very fine particulate in the fuel bowls when I had the carb apart and that is what I suspect is causing my remaining issue which is now very minor. The car is running fantastic almost all the time but the carb does get hot in spite of the phenolic spacer. I also added a clutch fan and per the gage, the car does not run hot.
if I continue to have an issue I will add a small pusher pump back at the tank.

You have my number and can call me anytime my friend.

AFAIK, the only way around getting that fine sediment in the carb is to get a "new" gas tank that has been coated to seal the steel from the ethanol/water cocktail that wreaks havoc on an otherwise `stock' steel tank.

As for temperature, go out and spend the big $30 the next time Harbor Freight has one on sale and get an IR thermometer. No more guessing.

I've got one and know for a fact that the body of my carb gets hot enough to start to vaporize fuel but I think my problem is with micro sediment and I need to deal with my tank.

That's exactly what I'm going to do the rest of the season, Dave.

These guys will be at the Carlisle Fall Show....the price is about $100 less at the show. You could ask Mark to purchase it for and have them ship straight to your door.

I have been there done that with one of my cars, until I changed the tank. I could almost change it out at a stop light.

The original is in such great shape that I'll probably have it cleaned and sealed.
