Shot in the Dark - I am looking at a 1974 Penn Yan Explorer 20" with a rebuilt GM 350, inboard - tunnel drive. Looks in pretty good shape. Need to "test drive.)

Anyone here familiar with Penn Yan Boats and can answer some questons or give advice on them?

I don't know much about Penn Yan boats but I'm curious as to what questions you have about them for this board?

I seriously considered buying that brand of boat some years back, I had Grady whites and sea rays previously. They are a heavy well made boat and nice and deep for their size. They are really not known for being real fast but ride nice. Only problem with the tunnel drive is that it's a little harder to dock, they act more as an inboard and don't have a lower unit that's turns with the steering wheel like an inboard outboard. And depends where you are using this boat also, in shallow water you can't raise up the lower unit like an I/O

They are kind of the C-Body of the boat world. I find guys with an interest in our cars often have similar interests and collecting habits...
