This may seem to be a silly question but here goes. I am sending the radio out for repair for my 1964 Chrysler Newport. The car is in storage 20 miles away so I cant check the radio power feed. . Is the radio 12 or 6 volt? I know the car is 12 volt but the gauges run on 6 volt. I think I remember the orange wire going to the radio as having less than 12 volts when I temporarily installed a modern radio a few years back but cant really remember. I have checked a few on line wiring diagrams but cant seem to find the answer. I feel stupid asking but I am not sure and want to send the radio out tomorrow.

Orange wires are typically just for the light bulb and can often gave less than 12 volts if the headlight dashlight dinner is in play.

Radio power should be a red wire and be 12.5 volts or slightly more.

Thank you guys. Gary is the one doing the radio.....
