Seat Belt Buckle Cover Removal

Hey, quick question. Any advice on how to remove the plastic cover on a seat belt buckle. (This is a 72 Imperial) I wold like to clean them up and paint to cover up some of the wear over the years.

They should just snap off. Take care though, old plastic is often brittle. If it were me, I would see if I could do what it needs without removing the cover. I say that because I have a couple with loose covers.

If you dunk it in boiling water for several minutes it may regain some elasticity.
