I wish this was about retiring, but it’s not.

My truck needs new tires soon (2015 F150)… but I am thinking of selling it. My question is about getting new tires before selling it, or take the hit on the current value and let the new owner get them?

I fear I wouldn’t get my money back if I get the tires now. I don’t usually sell my cars with this much life left in them so I was hoping for some of your thoughts.

Thanks!

That's a tough call. On one hand, new tires would make the truck more appealing to buyers. But you're right that you may not fully recoup the cost. Maybe see if you can get a trade-in offer from a dealer, both with and without new tires - to give you a better sense of what maximizes your return. If you ask me, it depends on the buyer. If the buyer has some preferred tire brand, they would prefer to change it themselves, but I guess normal buyers would want new tires.
