1969 Chrysler Time Delay Ignition Switch Light

Here’s a few pics of the inside of a timing relay. When mine started acting up the very small wires at the base of the one arm broke, or burnt off .

Your bulb is inside that small silver tube with the hole in it held in place by that screw in your second picture , it could be burnt out or the time delay relay is bad here is a great thread on the topic 1970 Fury Time Delay Relay
Thanks again Welder guy - I have the same problem. I wouldn't have known there was even a bulb in there without this post. The ignition is kinda strange on the 69 models - being on the left and so low down, it's hard to find at night or at any time of day in underground carparks. I understand the concept was to improve security (such as to establish some distance from kids in the front seats who might fool around), but it is a little counter-intuitive for many drivers...

In the 69 Fury the ignition is on the lower left side of the dash . There is a light just above the ignition and another above the light and wiper switches , both are controlled by the delay relay . These are separate from the dimmable dash lights. The 69 Chrysler 300 would be the same left hand ignition. The 70 Fury and Chryslers had the steering column ignition.
I have the 69 300, have the dash out, most of the harness exposed and have yet to find a delay unless someone unplugged it and threw it away. My ignition light is good but never comes on. I have what looks like a partially melted 3 prong connector under the dash and connected to nothing. Is the relay a 3 prong?

Welder guy found my thread. See post below.

My plug had a pink , yellow and yellow with black tracer Coloured wires coming out of the back of the plug. It’s hard to tell if that’s what’s coming out of yours. It looks pretty close, but I cannot be sure.

The plug does seem to match the end of the relay. And they’re probably a lot cheaper in the USA. at least you have a part number now to go to Napa with.

It looks like your plug got squashed rather than melted, maybe it got caught between the frame of the dash and the body somehow . That relay should work in that plug

Thanks. I ordered on eBay. Napa USA no longer carries that part. My wires were as you described. $32 on eBay.

That’s a crazy price for this relay. I bought a couple of them a few years back and the quality wasn’t there , one burned out a few days after I installed it . Quality new parts are hard to find.

So crushed I had to hot knife it out. Connector was totally crushed inside the plastic.
This site has so much knowledge that isn't in any service manual.
Well. Slot is not a full size terminal. It's half size so the relay won't fit. It is the correct number in the parts manual though.

That female Packard terminal has been crushed as well, will need to replace that one.
I can't find a relay with 2 straight pins and one square pin. So I'm confused. FSM says 2889565 with has 3 standard flat terminals. My Connector, squashed or not doesn't have 3 flat terminals. I just spent 2 hours in the parts manual to see if this connector was for something else and it's not. It's for the 2889565 except one pin is half the size of the rest. I think I'm going to cut that part of the connector off and add a plug-on connector to that pin.
