You never - well, almost never, except occasionally at a car show - see fuselage cars driving around here any more. So imagine my surprise tonight, on my drive home from work, when one passed me in rush hour traffic! We were heading in generally the same direction but by different routes, and eventually I caught up to him for a closer look.
The car was wearing Prince Edward Island plates, and was a '71 Fury III 4-door sedan. Black paint, tan interior. It had some waviness on the lower bodysides but looked surprisingly good, no obvious rot, shiny paint and decent chrome. If it was a hardtop I would have been totally ga-ga but even as a sedan it put a smile on my face. I always liked the '71 Fury and this one looked good. I gave the driver a thumbs-up as I passed. I'm thinking it must have been one of those barn finds we hear about, maybe a potato farmer over there owned it. Or, given the color, maybe a funeral director. Nice to see one regardless.
