I believe to have gotten the problem sorted out.
I rerouted the fuel line away from any heat sources and the issue seems to have disappeared, as for the black smoke, that was fixed by the idle mixture adjustment I mentioned in my previous thread.
I have been unable to really test this solution...
When the engine gets hot it will start to bog down under acceleration. When I open the hood, I can see the fuel bubbling inside my fuel filter. As this is happening, the fuel level visible inside the filter is also dropping.
What is the best solution here? A bigger fuel pump to keep the lines...
I went to verify the tuning on the carburetor, and realized that I had the mixture screws about 3 turns from where it starts to lean out, I am going to take it for a drive and get back to you on the results. That might have fixed it.
On my old carburetor the plugs were a perfect tan color and...
Spark is good, coil voltage is 13-14V.
The car does spit some black smoke from the exhaust when the throttle is applied though.
Probably just running rich.
I will check the metering rod in the carb, it is in great condition though.
The distributor is in good condition, the ignition system is a Pertronix Ignitor II with the Flamethrower II coil, I will confirm voltage and spark soon and get back to you.
I can easily duplicate the bogging by...
I posted recently about a similar issue I was having with my car, possibly the same one.
Since then, I have replaced the fuel pump pushrod, verified the function of my fuel pump, and installed an Edelbrock AVS2 650 (Which runs perfectly).
The issue no longer occurs when normally accelerating up...
I had spoken with someone from Edelbrock a while back and was told I needed the full Lokar throttle linkage and kickdown cable conversion kit.
If this isn't accurate, I would love to save the $250 that costs.
Also, what Edelbrock linkage adapter? They have a couple different ones.
How hard is wiring the electric choke on my car? The original carb only had a vacuum/spring operated choke.
I will probably just get the manual choke though, since it rarely gets cold enough where I live to need the choke.
Alright.
I won't have to upgrade when the motor has a performance cam and heads?
If not, then that's definitely the route I will be taking as I thought 800CFM might be a bit much.
I wish they made a 700/750 version.
I have recently discovered that my car's original Stromberg WWC 2-Barrel is leaking horribly from multiple non-repairable locations. So it is time to buy a new carb.
The motor has an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a Pertronix Ignitor II ignition. In the near future, it will be getting...
Just found the issue, my fuel pump pushrod was worn. Once replaced the carb started getting the proper amount of fuel, which it then leaked all over the intake manifold.
Time for a new carb I guess.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped me out with this!
The tank I have has 2 vents, 1967 received a smaller gas tank in a slightly different shape. You can make them fit, but its not worth it when you can buy the correct tank.
The photos are of the different ends of the tank, it fills from behind the license plate so the filler neck goes in a...
