I don't have any detailed pictures of an actual car installtion on a 64, but I expect they're very similar to how they're intalled on a 65 or 66. I'm sure that somebody here has a 64 with that option.

I can help with getting the underhood servo up and running, and dialing in the dash dial and repairing it if required.

I also can provide the pics from the service manual if you don't have them.

Thanks guys. He has the service manual. Friends car he wants to do the power tour and have it this year. Been looking at pics but nothing that I can really use. Like I said he has the unit and nothing else.

Hi, I'm trying to determine how to uninstall a perfect circle autopilot from a '65 Chrysler that my dad installed back in '68. I'm thinking the service manual might help me do so. Could you provide the pics please. Thanks!

I will try to find pictures as best I can. They don't really show much, but I'll get you what I can.

If the dash dial and switch were installed into the dash on your '65, then there will be a big hole in the dash if you were to remove it. I don't recommend that. However, if you really need to, removing it requires disassmbling the switch by removing the knobs from it with a hex or allen key, and then the bezel is held onto the dash dial by nuts/screws accessible from the back. You'll have to remove the lower steering column shield to access them. It's a PITA job, but it's do-able.

In terms of removing the autopilot system from underhood - all you need is the regular speedometer cable for a car NOT equipped with Autopilot. Disconnecte and remove the two speedo cables (one from the transmission to the underhood servo, and one from the underhood servo to the speedometer), and replace with the single non-Autopilot speedo cable.

The wiring to the underhood servo simply disconnects, and can be tucked up out of the way.

The Underhood servo and brackets simply unbolt.

The linkage from the gas pedal is held onto a ball stud by a clip on the accelerator pedal - it's a special pedal that has an arm that pokes through the firewall - disconnect that and the whole arm will come with the underhood servo.

Voila, you're done.

Here the pics as best as I can show. 64 Chrysler engine bay pic, 65 Service manual and 65 Parts catalogue for the text and images.

I can give you the work-around to have a dual res master - I've done it on my car.

One of the things you can do is move the whole servo FORWARD to clear the dual res master, or get the special master that I got.

If you're interested, PM me.

FYI, I'm sorta the unofficial Autopilot Guy here on FCBO - so I can help you get your dash dial rebuilt, sort out the servo, etc. etc. I advertise in the WPC News too... quite a few happy customers here.

So rather than scuttle the system, let's see if we can't get you set up to have safe modern brakes AND functional Autopilot too. PM me.
