Anyone ever use this tool from Sonnax? I corrects damaged case due to excessive shifter (and kickdown?) wear. If you keep blowing out the shift lever seals (or getting leaks there) the lower bore might be out of spec allowing that shifter/kickdown cylinder to move around in the seal. You can do this right in the car (I did).

I've used one of those for years, its the only way to stop that pesky shifter seal leak. Thats the one everybody thinks is a pan gasket leak. The other leak is from the reverse band strut shaft. That's on the right rear of the main case behind the little tab on the tailshaft housing. The only proper way to fix that one is remove trans and change the seal on the shaft. Some shops don't know that seal is there. Sometimes cleaning the little indent behind the shaft and putting sealant in there is a cure for a little while.

Mine is currently leaking there. I've heard you can do that in the car (remove tail shaft housing or cut that little tab and then use a magnet to carefully pull that shaft out just enough to get a new o-ring on. You have to back-off band tension and it would be even easier with the pan down and valve body out of the way.
