    73 Imperial Broadcast Sheet Decoding

Thanks for all the documentation! For a start, we can compare the SPD (Scheduled Production Date) on the fendertag with the MDH (Month-Day-Hour) on the doorsticker and conclude, as is usually the case, that they don't coincide: SPD = A31 = October 31 MDH = 110418 = November 4 No matter how...

    Wheel well air vents?

Those mufflers are/were sold by Walker Continental as Blue Swingers, and Blue Streak was the Allied (non Walker name for speed shop vendors etc.) - the longer they are the better they sound, but as noted above they empty out and get louder. Also, they can be installed backwards if desired to...

    Anodise Alumiunium moldings

The new oven cleaners don't have lye in them any more apparently. Gotta find some lye to do it right. If they're small, take them to an anodizer and have them do them within someone else's job - it's called Brite-Dip I believe, and while I'm not sure about Australia, in North America there are...

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

As noted above, pinion and tailshaft angularity have to add up, and the hardened grease issue with U joints. The tires thing is possibly an issue too. Tailshaft bearing for the driveshaft yoke can be worn out a tad too, if it's been dealing with any mismatch of angles for a length of time.

HELP on 1966 383ci Replacing the fuel pump

The tube the pushrod is in the tube ABOVE the cavity for the fuel pump, however, the actual pushrod is too long to go into the tube from the cavity's opening, so the tube "continues" below the cavity and is closed with a pipe plug. When the push rod is installed or replaced, the plug is removed...

WANTED Police A/C Cut Off Switch and Bezel

I am looking for an A/C under dash cut off switch and bezel used in Police cars. The bezel alone would be fine also. Thank you!

    1957 Imperial

1957 had single headlights, 1958 got dual headlights, typically. At least for USA-spec vehicles. Brochures at www.eatondetroitspring.com. Input the vehicle details into the menu, then the upper tool bar that results on the next page has an "ICON" at the far right end, click on that for the...

    1969 polara noisy engine fan

I've seen some Toyota fan clutches with adjustable spring positions.

    1957 Imperial

To me, the part that seems unusual is that it is a 6-Window 4dr sedan rather than a 4dr hardtop. That might explain the differences in the top. I suspect that back then, as in later times, only one plant built Imperials. Might be interesting to contact the owner and check the vehicle's...

    1969 polara noisy engine fan

When fan clutches first came out, they were the centrifugal type, which cut-out above a certain engine rpm level. Identified by no thermostatic spring to regulate internal fluid pressure. When the thermostatic versions came out in the 1963 era, they were considered "upscale" as they could...

My New (to Me) 73 Imperial LeBaron

Not necessarily. Most of the time, what was included varied by make and model. Both Valiants and Imperials had A01 packages but what was included was different. Look here: https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1973/73-Imperial_0006.jpg Did the car come...

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

I had a Jeep GC with the double cardan joint in the front position. It made all kinds of strange noises at various speeds and I couldn't see anything obviously wrong anywhere. I thought it was a wheel bearing or maybe an axle bearing. I finally removed the driveshaft and discovered that it...

    73 Imperial Broadcast Sheet Decoding

Great that you found the sheet and could retreive it. On the very top line, you'll notice the VIN, of course, and a few other things related to it. The next lines seem, to me, to relate to the actual parts used, with the (possibly) "tag numbers" those parts would have attached to them. Might...

    1969 polara noisy engine fan

There is about a 10-degree temperature difference between the standard thermal and the heavy-duty thermal fan clutch lock and release temp. They work at about 175 radiator air flow temps, plus or minus. I haven't had any fan roar with any of my old Mopar cars. They have all been quiet and cooled...
