In later years Ford did. The '84 Mercury we bought had two keys; round one for the trunk.

    Is this Monaco worth $2500?

The frame or channel under the rear window is known to rust on these cars. The rear fenders also will rust - the lower edge and the back side going up to meet the trunk floor. The trim might be hiding the condition of the sheet metal all along the sides of the car. Not having the keys - for...

On one of my cars I always have to push down on the trunk lid while turning the key. I hope it's that simple for you!

    Hello C Body Forum

Welcome. This cars story is sad for sure…. And my condolences for your cousin’s husband. As @Boydsdodge notes above, if you’re looking to get into a 66, you be best to find a current driver and use this one in the field for parts. As for the trunk release, I have only ever used a key in my ‘68...

Lost my #%@in' keys! '77 NYB

Fortunately, it's unlocked. Is there any way to find the key code? I've got the specific part numbers to order blanks, but don't know what the cut is. Is that info stashed away anywhere in the car? I'm sure Chrysler wouldn't have any records going back that far, right?

    1970 Fury I stripper!

There were fleet locks where one key works in all locks, typically they were the round key like the trunk. Alan

    1970 New Yorker keys

I thought Chrysler always had the best setup for the keys. They were made for a valet. He/she could open/lock the doors and start the car, but could not get into the trunk or glove compartment unless they had the round key. Genius. Ford and GM did not have have this genius feature.

[SOLVED] Stuck Trunk Lid - Key turns but doesn't pop lid

I remember having to use the “Fonzie Maneuver” on a ‘68 RR plus other trunk lids back in the day. Turn key and give it a good downward bump fist. Or study up on being a tunnel rat.

    1970 Fury trunk lock question

You got it! I’m going with option 2. I just didn’t know if it would work for sure because of the location being different than most. Full disclosure that I didn’t want to mention before because I didn’t think it was pertinent: The lock sometimes acted weird. Occasionally I’d have to jiggle the...

This one uses the pentastar shaped ignition key. Will a round key even fit in a column style ignition switch?

    1970 Fury trunk lock question

The fleet/police one key explanation would make sense since it is Fury 1.

    new door locks

I need to rebuild my door hinges on the 70 Sport Fury, and my driver's side door lock is getting impossible to fit the key in and open, so might as well tackle that as well. What have people done? Just end up matching the door locks with the trunk lock? Open to suggestions here.

    Is this Monaco worth $2500?

I have access to this car and I'm the one who's taking the pictures. Are there any specific shots that I should take to post here to help determine value/condition? Unfortunately I can't get into the trunk which of course is a concern.. I don't believe there is a key at this time. From what I...

    1970 Fury trunk lock question

From what I can tell it’s just a cheap civilian car. It’s going to have separate keys for the trunk and ignition under my ownership.

    1970 Fury trunk lock question

My '70 Fury III has two separate keys and the round one fits the trunk. If your car was a fleet car (Police etc) perhaps it could have only one key fitting all. I know my trim piece around the key hole is from a 1971 car.
