1968 300 Rear Main Seal Leak

Finally decided to tackle the rear main seal leak. I removed the steering linkage and was able to lift the engine a couple inches to remove the oil pan. After removing the rear main seal retainer I found the bolts used were too long which cracked the retainer on both sides. Now I am trying to...

NOT MINE 1961 Chrysler 300G (auction Nov 8 2024) Greensboro, NC

Gorgeous car! Strange write up. Manual transmission! Anyone know about the rear emblem? It appears to be a "C", while the side emblems are clearly "G's."

    Rubbing Belts?

I agree the compressor doesn't look right. There should be two thin belts on it.

Steering wheel wants to turn right while idling, steering gear adustment or front-end alignment?

Congratulations on finding the assembly mistake. The freewheeling "in both directions" when there is no resistance with the wheels off the ground is expected. That's what the reaction spring setup is all about. To stabilize the steering when the car encounters bumps, wind and crown so the car...

1973 New Yorker Brougham - Power Window Crimp Terminals

Typically when the wire enters the terminal the 90° to the contact they are called flags. This may help, two parameters are needed to know: wire gauge for proper crimp diameter and tge contact diameter/ size. Lonk may help...

Steering wheel wants to turn right while idling, steering gear adustment or front-end alignment?

The valve body is pretty simple. I didn't touch it the first time, but this time I did remove it: I took note of which way that slot in the pin was oriented. Those are the original seals, they looked fine, a bit flattened. There's almost no parts in the valve body itself except for some...

1973 New Yorker Brougham - Power Window Crimp Terminals

@Big_John I got nothing, other than good used or those Ford fuel pump terminals. A quick 1 minute soak in a white vinegar / salt solution, followed by a baking soda / water solution should clean the originals quite nicely. I would then solder the terminals to the original wiring. And those...

    Bastardized 1959 "Coronet" build

Working on the rear window. Welded the 2 panel halves together. Back on the car. I still need to decide rain gutters or not... I think I'll cut one off the remaining roof and mock it up onto the Corvette Targa top to help decide. That will dictate how I repair the rot on the current C pillars. I...

just finished my 1969 New Yorker

As everyone has stated in one way or another, the car is beautiful. I feel your pain about blocking the 8 ft quarter panels. One of my favorite photos from my restoration, you can see my "3 ft sanding block" on the top of the quarter panel. I felt like Popeye when I got done...lol

    New to me 69 300 CM27

Mine is the standard 440 but someone changed the cam, put a Carter AVS on it and dual exhaust. I could never imagine trying to race this boat at 4400 lbs. They ran it so hard I'll probably put rings and bearings in it this winter. 10 mpg and a quart of oil every 200 miles haha

Steering wheel wants to turn right while idling, steering gear adustment or front-end alignment?

Good work on correcting the assembly error. Maybe you still have something in incorrectly? I have never disassembled a steering box, but did screw up a valve body reassembly on Elwood, my 68 Plymouth Fury II 4 door sedan with a 904. I re-read the service manual and figured it out. I would...
