Hey guys, sorry for absence, job travel & sick family member...but here's an update...nothing worked. Still hot. Used the correct shorter size primary spring from the 1974 Grand Torino Raybestos H7071. Fit into that upper hole. Shoes return better, more efficiently I would say, but still hot...

68PK21...you are the MAN!!!! You've got to be kidding me! That makes sense!!!! The only 11x2 hardware kit on Rock Auto is Raybestos and shows that both primary and secondary springs are the same length which is what I bought!!!! (see pic)! So when we are all buying the hardware replacement...

I apologize for the delay all. Been traveling again for my job and working on my brother’s 67’ Polara. As for my brake problem: I removed the residual pressure “check” valve for the rear brakes (front reservoir), kicked back the pads on the drums, went on my usual 10 mile at 50 mph test ride...

Will do Z. I have the previous 2 MC's, one Cordone I bought and the aftermarket MC that was on the car when I bought it. Going to learn how remove on those before I drain the fluid and pull mine on car. Glad to hear your test drive is successful so far! I removed all my parking brake...

Hey guys...Just got back from my travels for my job over last two weeks and just getting caught up. Since I've been traveling I was 99% sure of the SSBC system, because of the ability to keep my original 14" wheels. Read your posts...they're out of business??!?!? You've gotta be kidding me! Now...

Yes bud...I told John too...The brake rods on these new masters are not adjustable from what my buddy (a Mopar guy, car mechanic by trade and 3 A body owner), who has been helping me told me. We did the test of separating the master from the wall twice and still happening.

I'll try to take some more shots next week. I would have to jack it up and pull the wheel again, and I don't think I'll have time, because I'm getting ready to travel for business tomorrow. When I get back buddy!

Hey Stain...yup, sounds like my deal! My drums turned purple...even melted the coating on the shoe frame...lol! But the head scratcher for me on yours is that you have the factory drums. So in your case, if you can, when they are hot, lift the rear up try to turn the rear wheel. If it is hard to...

Hi John, The brake rods on these new masters are not adjustable from what my buddy (a Mopar guy, car mechanic by trade and 3 A body owner), who has been helping me told me. We did separate the master from the wall twice and still happening. Also, yes, if they can split them, that would be...

Thanks Dave, yes...I have it both on my computer and physically and Googled it 11x2 plate 2405 714-5 and 11x2.5 plate 2405 728-9. Nothing out there. I'm hoping to get lucky at Carlisle. Some of those guys don't deal with computers, so in effect, rely on these shows for sales. I have a buddy in...

Hi Davea, Thank you for all this great info! I agree with the manufacturer's inconsistencies...I have commented on that in this thread above with some of the other guys. I may take a leap of faith and try to go with a 2.5" drum conversion before I get into the whole disc thing. Finding an 11x2...

Hey Cruiser...When we tested the hydraulics, we made sure the shoe was still energized and popped the bleeder. If the pressure releases and the shoe retracts, it's hydraulic. (Just watch the flying fluid...I attached a hose and into a jug). From your pics, I would replace that rubber hose. It...

Hey Stubs, Yes, I would like to keep the 14's. I love the original look and try to keep my vehicles as original as possible. I responded to your earlier post too...yes, the rubber hose is a new Dorman. We did 3 hydraulic tests and it passed all 3, so it's mechanical for sure. I am thinking...

Hi Luigi, Yes, I actually read every post regarding hot brakes before I posted so not to double up subjects. I immediately looked up wagner shoes and they didn't offer 11x2 and I believe the car on your avatar has 11x2.5, which makes sense. That's why I included a question on converting 11x2 to...

Update: Brand new rear Timkin bearings...I needed it as they were bad and the car coasts & gildes much nicer now. It took out the wobble motion. Axle not bent. Brakes still hot. My buddy made windows so we can see how they are reacting. (see pics). Seems like they just keep getting stuck...

Ok guys, Put it together, went on test drive...hot again... drove it into garage, jacked it up, cracked the bleeder, no pressure, so it's definitely mechanical. Thank you Dave! Yes, I already spoke with my buddy last week...he is going to build up weld and grind the perches of the backing...
