Your engine can't talk, so no way of knowing what's been done, in the past 48+ years.
Only if the 383 is from 1959, 1960, and from a Chrysler Windsor, or Saratoga.
Those are raised block, 383 engines.
Otherwise NO, won't fit.
383's are low block engines, and 440's are raised block engines.

They are a hard sell, to find buyers for.
A Very limited market.
Sure you see these things advertised at lots higher prices, but they don't sell.
