Probably not. How's the booster? Is it original? Sounds like you're loosing power and reverting to non-power...which the pedal is not setup for. Mopars all suffer from brake fade for some reason, but a quick pump brings it right back. That doesn't sound like the issue though

If you're missing that mixture screw, you might be missing the whole needle. Depending on the carb, it might be the whole things

Carb should be rebuilt if the car has been sitting a long time. No doubt at least open it and clean it out. I sent mine to Dave at Woodruff for a rebuild. Came back great. Car is actually running cooler because the mixture is properly squared away. Still dealing with vapor lock issues...

Mine did the same thing. Was completely jammed. Then as investigated why, I realized the problem was bigger than just the u-joint. Of course some great advice from the boys on this forum really helped as well. Unfortunately a lot of this stuff is based on the principle of "while you're...

While we're on that subject, did you check your drive angle as well? Make sure your springs aren't sagged and pulling down on the drive shaft. That will toast a u-joint faster than you can put it in. Ask me how I know... My car came to me with airshocks and I thought that was great until I...

As soon as you can, do the ammeter/bulkhead connector bypass on your alternator. Best quick mod for this old cars you can do. Takes about 20 min and will save that car for a lifetime. 10 gauge from large stud on back of alternator direct to battery stud on starter relay. Done. Underhood...

Good to hear you're still working on it and it's getting there. Any idea what carb that is? Carter AFB? Cut that crap out and put in a set of Cherry Bombs! LOL!

I'm definitely going to run it. It's real easy to find anything marine based on Long Island... Lol. Thanks for the vote of confidence

Thanks for this. I'm going to try it. I knew guys that ran Marvel Mystery Oil in gas as well, for the same reasons. Adds a little lubrication to the burn in these old engines. They like it I guess. Every old timer that sees my car says the same .. but some lead or oil in the gas. It helps...

Damn... I could have sent you my old stuff. I just switched over to SS when I restored and updated the back end. Tossed it out a few short weeks ago.

remove the coil and crank it. take the plugs out and Let all the **** in the chambers dry out. Don't push on the throttle. I'd even pull the carb off just to make sure no more gas flows in You need to work that motor a little more. Make sure it's loose and everything is working as it should

What gas do you run with this? I added the lead additive in my last tank, but in Long Island it's a ***** trying to find ethanol free gas. Do you have to change the carb mixture as well?

Some minor BS you're dealing with. Don't give up on her. She's a real nice ride! That ballast resistor looks like a wiring issue. It's just a big resistor... could have just been bad, or you have a wiring issue as already stated... to the coil. Carb floats are probably stuck. Tap lightly...

Cbarge.... I'm very interested in this set up. Where do you get it? You posted a pic, with no other info. I did the wire to alt already... thanks! Great suggestion. It makes a huge difference. Nice to know I'm not pushing that much amperage through the firewall anymore. Thanks, JR
