65 Fury Lower control arm rebuilt/Stiffener?

The "stiffener" is just a plate that is welded on that strengthens the control arm.

65 Fury Lower control arm rebuilt/Stiffener?

Did you go with greasable lower control arm pins? Or did you stay with stock? I'm still putting this all together and looking to take the car apart very soon, so still in the "thinking about" phase. Thanks! *** nevermind... I see they're only for POLY bushing, which they don't sell for the...

65 Fury Lower control arm rebuilt/Stiffener?

Thank you both for the quick responses. I'm definitely interested in both. Figured they were all a little different in some way, but without a side-by-side, I had no idea how. Craig: I'll get the car up on jack stands and list what I need. I've done a lot already, but now it's all down to...

65 Fury Lower control arm rebuilt/Stiffener?

Hello everyone. I've been planning on doing my entire front end and came across this nice kit for E and B bodies that PST sells. I really like their products and would like to have this for my Sport Fury. Quesition being, are the lower control arms the same for all models, or did MoPar make...

    Upper/Lower Ball Joints

The average torque on those ranging from a Jeep to a 4 door sedan is usually in the 60 ft lbs area. Some are higher some lower. If you unknowingly jacked that up to 125ft lbs, don't just back off the nut, you have to separate, inspect the eyelet to make sure it's not cracked, elongated or...

    Newbie brake bleeding question

Right now is one of those Moe slapping Curly moments. You NEVER unclog a hose... You replace it. I know you're on a tight budget as you mentioned, but brakes are one of those things that is you don't do it right...oh you will find out really fast...and ask me how. Please run a little...

    Now on to the brakes...

Pics ...we love pics! Good call on the Leeds. I mean in the end, it's your car and man, they're so much fun to drive rather than sitting on the side of a house. When you have the extra cash, definitely get that OEM booster done. You can't find those anymore, will pay through the nose to...

    Now on to the brakes...

Hello. Welcome. I did the same as you on my 65 Sport Fury. I decided to gut the entire system other than the brake shoes, as they were all good. First and most important...your booster. As Craig mentioned...DO NOT give that up. The original quality of your booster can be returned by...

    Drum locking issue.

Just wanted to post a thanks. I drained out about 1/4" of fluid from both sides of the reservoir and adjusted the booster push rod 2 full turns back. That seemed to have helped. Did about 2 hours of driving on the same route as the other day and pedal is good. Responsive and some play before...

    Drum locking issue.

No. Block is stock. It's both sides, so it's not a block issue. I'll go back and recheck all shoes all around and see if I reversed anything...but I doubt it. When I took them apart, I kept them on the sides of which they came off...but it doesn't hurt to tick it off the list. I'm really...

    Drum locking issue.

Definitely a dual drum. I put the time in to research which type. I put in the type/style from 67 and up. I wanted the look of OEM and not a plastic or chrome aftermarket looking piece that obviously doesn't belong there. Going from single to dual is the safe option.

    Drum locking issue.

I thinking it could very well be that I had too much fluid in the reservoir. Because the brakes released after I let it cool down tells me I failed to account for fluid expansion. Just not used to these old cars..lol. I'm too used to everything being labelled and more obvious. You need...

    Drum locking issue.

I'm thinking it's the rod. I had a single bucket and now it's a dual. Not sure what the length is supposed to be for a dual, but I can tell by what's already mentioned, I didn't have any "buffer" in the pedal. I adjusted the rod and now I have some play before I feel the brake engage. I just...

    Drum locking issue.

Ok. I'll remove some fluid, and take a look at that rod. I'll make some small adjustments to it and see where this goes. I'm also looking into an inside/outside caliper to have in my tool box. I'll report back what the results are. Thanks!

    Drum locking issue.

This is what it feels like. Feels as if the brakes are slowly being applied with no release until cooled off.

    Drum locking issue.

Sorry... 65 Sport Fury Still original drums. Converted to dual mc. All new lines front to back. The travel rod is between the booster and MC? I was thinking there is too much fluid in my system as well. There is no "fill" line so how much room for expansion should be given. I remember...

    Drum locking issue.

Hi. I've been working with a problem that I can't seem to pin down. Last week I had an issue with my front brakes slowly locking up. It started as a slight groan and as I headed home, brakes were nearly locked to the point of being un-drivable. I tore into the problem by backing off the...

Need some help with drum brakes

If you can squeeze it into the budget, do both sides. If one side had an issue, you may be looking at the same problem for the other side. Best to do them as a set and be done with it. That's not unusual for a brake pad to be smaller that the drum it rides in. It's part of the design. It's...

Was having a great day wrenching on my Fury... until the neighbor...

Done and dusted! Thanks to the old school guys at Mars Auto in Bayshore, Long Island. Took the drum in to them, he looked at it and laughed. "Forgot to switch the direction, eh?" Lol. Properly drilled it, removed it, fitted it with the correct size and thread direction stud and even swaged...
