Dome lamp part 2, 69 Polara

So, forward off all the time, and when switch is in the middle or back it goes on and off with the doors? In that position it's on all the time even with the doors closed. I'll check the door switches next

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

Yeah that's the one. I think they're all just different brands for the same thing. It never gets old seeing people's reactions when they notice how freezing the AC is and what I filled it up with. Once had my dad riding shotgun on a 100F day and he turned off the AC after 10 mins because it got...

Dome lamp part 2, 69 Polara

Correct when switch is forward dome will be off. Its a dome slash map light option so id bet your switches are bad in the door jam or broken wire both 71s I picked up this summer had bad switches.

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

Ah - kind of like the refrigerant known as Duracool. I find it works very well. And I use less of it than R134A charging. Far cheaper too.

Dome lamp part 2, 69 Polara

Or I guess it could be stuck on as well. I think I will check the door switches next. When it's full forward no light, middle to full backwards the light comes on even with all the doors closed

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

interesting. Wherever I look it seems to be 75-85% charge for an R134a retrofit. HC12/HC12a (really just a marketing name) is just a mix of typically 60% propane (R290) and 40% isobutane (R600a). The isobutane lowers the head pressures. For an R12 system you only need 50% of the original charge...

Dome lamp part 2, 69 Polara

Yea you can swap with any basic dome but if your switch work's on the dome you have power to the light set up. So when you open the doors it should light up id check the door actuators in the door frame if there's a broken wire or corroded piece. Thats why the dome wont turn on when you open the...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

80% of charge weight may be what works in some systems, but as far as I know it generally is less - as I noted above. Haven't tried HC12 yet.

There is a very good book called Men and Volts at War. It is about the effort and contributions/conversion of GE’s factories to the war.

somewhere around 1960, we started building Corvairs there. i know we built transmissions where they built b24s in the 40's. but place was frickin huge and we added on to it and my have added assembly space to build Corvair plus other cars over the years. we stopped building trannies there in...

318 poly to 360 engine swap

I have a 1966 Fury with a 318 poly and a 727 transmission. I want to put a modern 360 crate motor in it. Does anyone know if this will bolt up to my existing tranny and motor mounts and what other changes I would need to make?

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

Wait what? I thought going R12 > R134a is 80% of the R12 charge weight. It will never be as good as the R12 though which is why I'm a sucker for HC12. From personal experience it's just as good as, if not better than R12, and your HVAC system will last much longer because it runs at lower...

WANTED WTB 1967 B/RB Valve Covers and Air Cleaner

I currently have 2 ‘67 Imps so I’m well aware of what they look like and I also have a couple of spare ‘67 air cleaners from Imperials. Without having looked at any reference materials accept the ‘67 parts book I will say I don’t recall seeing a short round single snorkel air cleaner on a 440...

    Sanden conversion or RV2 Rebuild?

R-134a charge is best to be done using register temps and high and low side pressures. Your description is good. R-134a has a very narrow hysteresis or ‘sweet spot’. Too much or little and performance degrades quickly.
