    Newport interior question

Yes, this was an available and limited run option. I had a 75? Chrysler coupe with this interior. It was quite different to say the least, but it was unique!

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

I have done over 20 conversions on my various vehicles and have used kits from Mopar, Summit, Ehrenberg, and Mancini. I even have one of the Mopar Performance (Direct Connection) MSD boxes. The latter is currently on my '61 Newport. It doesn't matter which of the above you use. They all work...

    361 5.9l rebuild for 62 Chrysler Newport

I did not have any difficulty finding pistons, depending how much of an overbore you were seeking. 20 and 30 thousands were in stock. 40 thousands were not. I figured if I was going to all that work, I might as well take advantage of the increased displacement and go for 30. Also, I continue...

    361 5.9l rebuild for 62 Chrysler Newport

Greetings. I have a 61 Newport and have rebuilt my 361 to the following. Firstly, leave the heads alone. They are higher compression closed chamber heads. Remember, these same heads were also used on 413s. I used an aftermarket 272/282 cam (forget who's), a 4bbl air cleaner (depending on space...

    Under hood insulation

Thank you for your response. I am now confident in ensuring proper assembly, which I believe is part of the purpose of this site. I have had to scrape the insulation off of a hood or two in the past. Thank you also for pointing out my lack of experience on this particular topic. In my responses...

    Under hood insulation

Hi. I have the underhood insulation pad, still in its packaging. Which way does it mount? Which side goes toward the engine, the fibreglass or the backing/liner? Thanks

    Is this a Monaco? 75?

Greetings. I owned the same car umpteen years ago. 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco, said so,...right on the side. Great machine, but that 400 was a bit fuel heavy for the pedal stomper I was back then.

    8 3/4 bearings?

"Driving to create dust",...so if you're on a dirt road, or near a construction site,....smart cop, dumb law, said the retired ADA and antique cruiser restorer responding to an ancient chat topic. Regarding "green" bearings, I have said before that I have used them on numerous vehicles (B & C...

    Heater core hoses

If that is your thinking, then an engine driven clutch fan would work, or if you don't mind going electric, you can get an electric fan (do not go too small) with a thermostatically controlled switch. Several temperature options exist. Check the on and off temps for the switch. Some switchess...

    Heater core hoses

It is not uncommon for a heater core to become "muddy" or "brown" as they can retain any rust or dirt as a result of their finer water passages. Even though the coolant appears fresh and green, any contaminant tends to build up in the heater core. I have had this happen, and have seen it...

Intermittent Heat Help -1965 Imperial Crown

Okay, so here is a thought from out in left field. I have had it happen where a head gasket leaks just enough pressure to cause the heater core to slightly pressurize and lose or reduce water flow. Given that you said your coolant was "foamy", which can be a head gasket tell tale sign, I leave...

    Differential gear change?

I appreciate you responding, but I had my face in it and it was stamped 2:92. Weird, but true.

    Differential gear change?

If I remember correctly, 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco Cop car was available with 9.25" 2.92:1 sure grip and a 400. I had one after it was retired. One of my favourite cars,...bit slow off the line but what a solid and fairly agile machine. Seems strange to use the word "agile" with something that...

    Differential gear change?

This topic is bound to gather a litany of responses. It all boils down to your personal choice as far as which suggestion appeals to you. Change tire/wheel size or the gear ratio from the original, and you need to check speedo drive gear size (Chosen by teeth and displayed by colour, yellow...

Electronic Ignition , Goop leaking out

The reality is that we could speculate all day long. I agree with the statements of others before me, high heat storage is the most likely cause in an unused unit. We should also remember that there was a flurry of cheap offshore knockoff look alike boxes produced for several years. Who knows...

Electronic Ignition , Goop leaking out

I can understand the personal feeling of satisfaction from "saving" a brain box after the resin turns to liquid. However, the electronics knowledge part of me can not help but wonder what damage those components may have received from exposure to high heat and moisture. That resin wasn't put...

    Headers for 360la

I tried a set of those inexpensive block huggers on my '61 Newport, 361, standard trans. They did fit after a few "modifications". The pipes did need to be dimpled. I found it necessary to use the short sparkplugs to increase clearances between the plug, wires, and header. I also had to shave a...

    Upper ball joints

I actually had one rotate itself back out of the arm. It was very strange. I retightened it (no air tools involved), and gave it several 1/4" welds, and it never caused me any grief again. Run that thing up tight and fire up the welder!
