Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

Hmm. I guess the Safety Sentinel option doesn't show up on the fender tag?

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

With the introduction of the six digit SO number for MY 68, as opposed to five digits used in 67, something had to go on the bottom row so the 4/5 tire code that existed in '67 got dropped. The 67 Windsor tire coding is just one of this subtle plant to plant nuances.

Stand corrected on that, I recall now, Valiant /6 only in ’60 for the alternator, across the board in ’61 pretty much according the FSMs. Had checked Rock Auto for the application before posting, says alternators on everything in ’60 and generators in ’59.

old and new Thermostat tests with questions

went through a similar deal while chasing an overheating problem on my 454 chevy camper....every FLAPS thermostat in a different box was a Motorad...I removed a good new one while troubleshooting and wound up installing a new defective one, the third one worked...boiled them together to find...

Part of the Safety Sentinel headlamp system. It is a photo cell to turn on the headlights when it gets dark enough. Like a street light polw. Lol.

That’s interesting, haven’t seen one of those in many years. Interesting too, don’t recall it being available as an over-the-counter service part, available to the general public back then. Recall part numbers typically could only be billed back through factory warranty channels or issued to...

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

I used a few different sources to piece together the first tag (the beat-up tag) in this thread, then I plugged in the entire tag here: https://realdash.net/dev/decoders/tag6768.html It seems to have gotten everything right - it didn't know the R5 radio code or the 97 tire code. or the b1...

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

@MoPar~Man , is the decoder you are using more B-body oriented than being a genuine C-body decoder? Might it also be more USA-oriented than Canada-orineted? Just curious, CBODY67

old and new Thermostat tests with questions

...would be preferred over a sudden-open thermostat to prevent "thermal shock" of the metal. BUT fully open at the rated temp. Were these both 180* F units or was the later one 195*F rated? Years ago, it seemed that we believed that the thermostat was fully open at the rated temperature. As...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

I used one of the original Mopar Perf electronic ign conversion kits years ago. The best total deal there was as it had the needed factory harnesses to do the deal and look factory. The newer repro kits allegedly have flaky control boxes which can fail often, so a normal replacement control...
