    Electronic ignition conversion tips

I like the Pertronix Ignitor II. From what I read; it has better circuitry than the Ignitor I so it doesn't have the issue with failing if the ignition is left on. I have points in one car, Pertronix in another, and Chrysler Electronic (old USA built) in the third and they all start and run...

    72 newyorker 73 fury

Thank you! I did not see them in the FB ad (Brooklyn, NY). @69CoronetRT should be very happy to see the tags, build sheets, and order sheets. Look forward to hearing more about the recovery process. For the 1972 NYer, you may find my Buttercup restoration page and the 1972 Chrysler Thread useful.

Congrats @straightjob -- glad to know that those cars are in your good hands. When you have a chance to post the fender tags and initial order sheets, could you please do so? Look forward to hearing more about them.

Toyota washer bottle in a 67 Fury

That is true, but as 3175375 says, the bigger problem I have is the fact that we rely heavily on selling our resources abroad to keep our economy afloat, instead of building up a manufacturing base. At least with the Japanese cars there are American workers being paid to assemble them. It was...

    Body Bumper Kit

Looks like my power steering pump is different from the original in the manual. I don’t see a spot for the T shaped bumper. But that is OK. I am considering this project a win. Took the car to a cars and coffee this morning and everything just felt better. A successful project that I didn’t...

    361 5.9l rebuild for 62 Chrysler Newport

Steel head gaskets seal just fine put on dry, but the paint won't hurt. Yes use the thin gasket. And if you replace pistons don't get 8:1 compression, it will make it more of a dog than it is now.

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

Hi Evetyone I'd like to convert my 65 Newport to electronic ignition. Anyone out there who recommend what type system to get. Want to make conversion as discreet as possible. More reliable than retaining points I hear, better starting etc ? Thanks Tim

But the profit goes to the country that owns the marquee…. That’s the beef that I have with foreign companies that assemble their vehicles here. The profits leave us…

That's a onion to peel, there. Some of our 'American' cars are made in Mexico, and some of our Japanese cars are made in the US. Regardless of where they are assembled, the components come from everywhere.

How to test temp sender and gauge with only a multimeter?

Thanks guys, and thanks again @Davea Lux I'll try those tests. Didn't even think to test with the multimeter like that. Electrical work isn't any stranger to me, but too many times I forget the basics.

How to test temp sender and gauge with only a multimeter?

I had a similar issue on my New Yorker where the gauge moved a bit but didn't seem realistic. I slid the cable off of the sensor and cleaned up the contact points on the connector on the cable and the sensor, reinstalled and then it started registering right in the middle of the gauge when it...

WANTED WTB 15" Mopar Steel Wheels

IIRC those wheels were used on wagons (sometimes), we've discussed them on here a few times on here over the years.

How to test temp sender and gauge with only a multimeter?

Did something similar with my oil pressure gauge. Grounded the wire to the block with key off, turned key on. Pointer swung all the way across. Turn off again. Repeat several times, then reconnect. It read much better after that - I guess the "exercise" must have knocked something loose. I find...

    Ammeter bypass

I'd say the first thing to make sure it is wired properly. Hard to tell without seeing it in person, but that doesn't sound right.
