Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

The question was "....did the '67 tags ever have any codes punched under the number-sequence 1 to 8 on line 3?" The answer was specific to that question. Yes, some plants did put codes underneath the numbers 1-8, some plants did not. Sometimes, standard moldings or items are not coded on a tag...

Is a 70 service manual basically the same as a 69 service manual? Also looking for a good RH mirror and crate engine builder...

There were differences in the engines as well. 70 lost a lot of compression across the board except the 426 Hemi. plus all the differences listed above. Personally, I would put brass freeze plugs in your 383, and add a 72 or 73 intake and Thermoquad and be done with it! Unless your racing it, a...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

Just Carbs, agree to disagree! I'll take a Mopar electronic ignition any day over the Chevy based HEI crap! I'm sick of people trying to make their Moats into Chevy pieces of crap with ignition, crappy Chevy lobe camshafts (Comp Cams) and coil over spring front ends! Friends? I'd rather pay...

old and new Thermostat tests with questions

You might have an issue with the engine that is only amplified by the lower thermostat. I agree trying to get a Made in the USA 180°F thermostat, but sounds like you have other issues.

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

The GM HEI reproduction distributor is very dependable, and parts are dripping off the shelves at the auto parts stores. You know, the stores that don't stock the Mancini stuff? And the HEI offers a module that retards the start/cranking timing 7 degrees. Very handy with 10.5 compression...

Tips for a young guy? What’s next?

You mentioned body bushings: from my research, can't find any. However, lots of guys have taken hockey pucks, split em down the middle to half thickness, drilled holes in the middle and used them and reported great results. I'm not there yet but likely the route I'll be taking.

Copper foil tape: a good fix for aged circuit boards!

Greetings C-body Moparians! This evening I rejoice in having found the failure point in the turn signal circuit on Gertrude, our 1968 Newport ragtop. I had surmised late last year that the long summer heat had damaged the new Shee-Mar turn signal switch I had replaced the original with just 2...

Thanks for the nice comments. As far as the engine it’s a rebuilt stock 318. I did add the bling to make it look good at shows. I plan on driving the car a lot and have no desire to race it. Since mileage was a goal I stuck with the original 318. Here’s the A Body Dart Sport in 1976...
