    Don't be discouraged, engine/trans shouldn't be too hard to find without breaking the bank, I disagree with @Davea Lux about the value, you might get a rusted out Imperial with no running gear for under $1K, if the car is clean and rust free, $3K ono is more than reasonable, photos would help...
