Amusingly those stub support areas are the one part of my car that wasn't ******. I'd do that up right, that's the most important structural part of the car. Those pedestals alone locate the front end of the car.
I'd replace that stub if i were you too. The main box section is supposed to go...

I have this one sitting on my shelf in the garage. I pulled it from a Chrysler Station wagon a couple years ago . It works great. PN #3670119 The car it came from looked a lot like yours, It was a fuselage car . If you think this is something you can use PM me .
I call it brown as I always think gold is a light color. I agree the tag does look lighter. I'm sure the paint is original (I'm a body paint guy 40 years) I can't find any tell tale signs of overspray anywhere. It's a good survivor especially here in Ontario. Seems like sombody put on some 20"...
Congrats on getting CL43N6C132991 (if I read correctly). LY9 is a cool color. It looks brown outside and gold on the tag -- due to flash, or does the color simply travel?
Lived all its life in a small town in KY from what I understand. It was on the original title until last year when the family of the original owner decided to sell. Sure would like to have more history on it if any forum members know the car.
