The machine shop onwers are a young guy and his "older" father. So he would have needed to lift it himself ;) And to be fair, I think this is a much saver way to do it. Can't slip off your hands. And your back will thank you :D

Yes, in this case the 0.055" was less! The other option would have been to sleeve the 2 worst cylinders and have them bore all the "good" cylinders just 0,020 over. But to do so, they would have needed to bore these 2 bad cylinders about 0.120" over (~3mm) to put the sleeves in. That would have...

I was wondering if there were pistons in that size. Interesting.... This pic had me chuckling. A bare block hanging from a forklift. I don't think I ever saw a machine shop around here pick up a bare block like that. 1 or 2 guys for a 225lb Mopar, but small block Chevys were a one person...

Indeed! The block looks pretty nice, a little bit of dirt is left in the block, but hardly any rust. 4.375" (0.055" over) is going to be the final measurement. The Mahle PowerPak Pistons I'm gonna use are available for that measurement! The cylinders are not bored to that final measuremnt yet...

Do you have the sockets or are they missing? You can repair them. Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc. has the button, spring and insulator. Look under "supplies" then "contacts, buttons, springs".

    mysterious carburetor problem

What Big_John said. Also, a bad coil will give you the same symptoms as a bad carb / fuel issues. That piece of information saved my hide many times over the years.

    Side marker sockets.

In looking in Section 8 of the 1968 parts manual, seems that all of the front side maker lamps have a sort of metal housing the bulbs click into and the external pieces screw into a metal bracket of sorts. With a connector similar to what is pictured, for the rear side marker lamps, but the...

    NOT MINE 1969 300 2dr in Germany

I know the oversized exhaust is not most C body folks cup of tea. Definitely not for every car but it is nice once in a while to hear a good rumble from a big boat.
