Removed the tint from both forward and rear side windows... Much better,,, pics to come...

Thanks for both suggestions! The blend it into the front glass is clever. I actually like them both ideas even though they don't really say 50s to me either..... Thinking I might try removing the tint and adding some stick on chrome and see if that does it.

The more I look at it, the more I think its the dark tint that really bugs me. The rear window looks fairly 50s, these new side windows look 1980s, **** star, limousine. Obviously, if I remove the tint, they won't match the front, side glass as well but they also have add-on tint that I could...

Rear side windows in... I don't hate them but I don't love them either. I think some curve might serve them well instead of just flat...

Finally back together... I am very fortunate to have a lift. This job would have really sucked on my back on the floor.. And as if I didn't already know that I have a great wife, she didn't even flinch when I told her I needed to put the harmonic balancer in the kitchen oven for 15 minutes on 250.

Ok, back to real cars... I've been struggling with keeping the serp belt on Boris... Turns out LS1s have a propensity for failing Harmonic Balancers. The rubber fails and then misaligns the pulleys. Luckily, it didn't come off completely and reek havoc. I pulled the steering rack and should get...

I've been playing with cars for a few decades but I still learn new stuff regularly... Lesson for yesterday was: Even though all the pulleys, accessories and the crank are just fine the belt itself can be the reason it gets thrown off immediately on startup. Yup, the main serp belt was tossed...

A little experimenting with the stick-on shiny stuff...

Here I was all worried about finding a rear glass seal cuz I want to make it look 50s, not NASCAR and use some of the stock stainless window trim.... Bad Chad has a Good Idea.... He did the side and back windows with this stuff... Looks very respectable IMHO.

First pass polishing some of the fin pot metal pieces.... Grinder, 320, 600, 1500 then polishing wheel. I need to get a few more sandpaper grits... 200 and 2000. I'm thinking the middle section that is heavily pitted will get high build primer and painted the color of the fins... New and old...

Pulled out the Corvette inner door panels that were conflicting with the new metal I added to the doors. Got brave enough to chop them up and do some FG work. This should allow the new metal to clear when the door is closed and not bulge out. Also began trying to shine up some of the pot metal...

Ok, back from vacation and time to get back to work on Boris... Moved him out from under the COE and back into his own bay yesterday. Got to a couple car shows while in Florida. Yes, it's quite strange going WITHOUT a classic car. Got to see some great cars. One was a radical, chopped VW bug...

Alignment from door to 1/4 panel issue solved. Even though I made the metal bracket the same thickness as the mockup wood spacer, I increased the length effectively pushing the door skin out. Pulled it apart, cut the bracket now all is well... PIA to pull it apart, but glad I know the fix.

You can sort of see where I screwed up the door to 1/4 alignment in this pic.... The door skin bulges out now about at the body trim line.

Projects on hold for a few weeks....

... and other than this new piece, the 1959 outer panel has brackets that are bolted to the corvette door structure as well as the rest of the hem.
