    73 Imperial Broadcast Sheet Decoding

The shipping order or the window sticker would help. But maybe they didn't do window stickers in Canada. Anyway, it's not on the broadcast sheet.

    1957 Imperial

Dual headlights could be added to the 1957 Crown and LeBaron trim level at no extra cost in states where such units were approved. This and other interesting information can be read in a 1975 WPC News article.

    73 Imperial Broadcast Sheet Decoding

Thanks for all the documentation! For a start, we can compare the SPD (Scheduled Production Date) on the fendertag with the MDH (Month-Day-Hour) on the doorsticker and conclude, as is usually the case, that they don't coincide: SPD = A31 = October 31 MDH = 110418 = November 4 No matter how...

You still could get lucky with a broadcast sheet tucked away somewhere inside.

    I finally bought an Imperial

I've hardly ever seen a car on which the Continental look actually looked good. The Continental look was meant to evoke the "wide open road", "no-limits" feeling. A combination of the limo with an off-road look, not unlike our present-day "Stadtgeländewagen", "Geländelimousinen" aka SUVs. It...

    I finally bought an Imperial

I just harvested these data from the internet over the course of the last five years. For the black one I didn't see the fender tag myself, but the owner posted his VIN. The link to his story is in the post on the black car. I wish there would be more data published on the 1974 Crown Coupe...

    I finally bought an Imperial

For every problem there is a solution. Below 1974 Crown Coupe, reportedly YM23T4C190858, was redone in black: "I spent over $10,000 in a total refurbish. I replaced the insulation above the headliner to the insulation under the new carpeting. My trimmer reupholstered all the seats using all...

Also see the "Sense and nonsense of fender tags" thread. PS. The dialogue box asking me to consent to the site's Privacy and Transparence Policy that opens up on every single occasion I click a forum page is driving me mad.

    I finally bought an Imperial

Your car: Sequential Production Number (SPN): 201437 Scheduled Production Date (SPD): 530 Month-Date-Hour: 060711 Comparing this to my modest data base of 1974 East Jefferson-produced cars, I get the following. East Jefferson also produced Chryslers (New Yorker and Newport) and...

    74 Imperial Crown Coupe?

    Wow, that's quite a difference between the SPD and the MDH! SPD: A16 = October 16, 1973 MDH: 112013 = November 20, 1973, 1 pm

Yes, sir! Many members think it's a drawback, because when broke it is difficult to fix.

    74 Imperial Crown Coupe?

Your statement seems to be based on the "A16" code on the fender tag. As a lot of people will tell you, that code is called the Scheduled Production Date. "I scheduled starting to write my next book June 1, 2022." Nope, I didn't. For getting to know the "birthday" of the car, could you add a...

The Build Date 040917 on the Vehicle Equipment Card should be identical to the MDH sequence on your door sticker (please check). MDH spells Month-Day-Hour, so 040917 translates to April 9, 5 PM.

There must have been a notion "Product Planning Car" around by then, see this reference to the 1973 Plymouth Intermediate Car Product Planning Car Group. It still is unclear to me whether "Product Evaluation Vehicle" covers that same notion.

I'm intrigued by field 2 of the company-owned car receipt: The available boxes are: "Assigned Car" "Do Car*" "Emp. Lease Car" "Prod. Plng. Car" Do Car is explained and Assigned Car and Emp. Lease Car seem pretty clear to me. But what category is Prod. Plng. Car? Product Evaluation Vehicle maybe?

Bought this 1974 Imperial LeBaron 4dr today

Interesting pieces of paper! As far as I can see, the broadcast sheet does not contain a sales code for the Automatic Height Control. In 1977 that code was S54. The Lease/Bid/Sale slot has Y28. That may have something to do with this being a company-owned car, but I don't know the exact...

The 1975 Automatic Height Control on a 1974 car is also interesting. Sometimes Chrysler would put advanced features on cars used by employees to gather feedback. As by 1974 Alan Loofbourrow was the Vice-President for Engineering, who could have had more interest in the functionality of a...
