Is there no source (or was there ever?) for 16 x 7 Magnum 500 rims?

I'm not in any sort of serious active search mode for my next rims to replace my 14 x 5.5 Magnums, but if I were, and feel free to talk me out of it, but I would move to 16 x 7 Magnums. And I know we're talking aftermarket here as they were never originally made larger than 15" (maybe not even...

2-inch rear brake drums - Raybestos 2955R measurements

It seems to be that there is no stock for rear 2-inch drums that are spec'd for pre-1969 vehicles. The Raybestos 2955R is specified only for 1969 to I think 1975 vehicles. Here I compare one of my existing 2-inch drums with the Raybestos 2955R. My drum is of unknown origin, it is finned, as...

Now I know where my $15 rock auto rotors come from

This gives a whole new meaning to made-in-china if you ask me: (wondering what @mobileparts would say about this whole situation) I'm sure the metallurgy is just fine. BTW, have you seen their kids making mufflers a few blocks away in the same village?

8.75 rear axle - room for 2 bearings?

Is there room to press 2 bearings onto this shaft? One just doesn't seem to be enough...

Rock Auto wholesaler closeout (2.75 inch front shoes and wheel cylinders)

I placed an order today with rock because the prices were ridiculous. Left and right front wheel cylinders (1.125 inch) WCA40417 / WCA40416 ($4.50 each). I think these are Car Quest / Advance parts being dumped. RAYBESTOS 337PG Element-3 brake shoes $12.70 (full set 4 shoes for front drum...

Balancing brake drums (who does it, or DIY ?)

I've had front and rear drums turned. I have no shudder during braking (because the new front drums needed turning) but I think the front pulls to the left so I will swap the front drums left to right and see if that changes anything. I've had all 4 wheels balanced, but only the rears were...

What makes a front 3 inch drum not work on the rear?

Assuming you're set up with 3-inch rear backing plates, what says that a front 3-inch drum won't work / fit ? Bonus question: Would it really be out of line to have rear 3" and front 2.75" ? Would you do it if your alternative was 2" rear and 2.75" front?

Has anyone had Road Force Balancing done (either to fix a problem, or because it's sort-of standard now) ?

I didn't know about this until just a few days ago. I watched a couple of YT videos, and this method does make sense that it can solve vibration problems that standard balancing doesn't fix. I thought that there had been posts here in the past few months of people trying to solve drive-train...

    Brake pedal return spring?

I've been getting my '67 Monaco back into shape over the past 2 years so maybe there's something in the brake system that I still need to tweak (although it has new master cylinder) - but I do have a short bungy cord to pull the brake pedal back up all the way. I don't think it pulls it much vs...

Front drum separating the hub - looking for info / advice

I want to separate / remove the drums from my front hubs, I'm using a 5/8 hole saw. So far this is where I am: How exactly does this process go? Am I supposed to drill deeper? Do these studs have a shoulder? I don't want to drill into that if it has a shoulder. Seems like these were...

1967 Monaco leaf spring forward bushing 2-inch vs 1.5 inch?

Rock Auto shows a couple of different forward bushings (RB60 and RB91) and seems to indicate that the non-police version has 2" OD and the police version is 1.5". I'm guessing that for me, the 2" version would be the correct one. Was there really a need to make the police version smaller...

    Front hub dust cap sizes?

For drum-brake cars, were there 2 different hub sizes? 1 9/16 and 1 13/16 (1.6" and 1.8") ? At some point in the past year I bought a couple of Dorman 13976 front-hub dust caps. I later discovered that they don't fit - they're too small. At the time, the part was a Dorman 13967, but...

What's the difference between 1967 and 1969 rear drums? (do they interchange?)

In the past couple days I've been looking to see where I can get new rear drums for my '67 Dodge Monaco. Drums all around, rear shoes are 2.5". Rock auto shows a few PN's (Dynamic friction, centric) but no stock. I call around locally and I give them some rock auto PN's for front and rear...

Front wheel spindles interchangable (left-right) ?

Are slab-era front drum knuckle/spindles interchangable (left-right) or are they side-specific?

How to adjust caster (if indeed you can with stock parts?)

Unless I'm not understanding this correctly, I don't see how you can adjust castor (on C-bodies? or any 60's - 70's mopar? Or in my case a slab). Looking at the wheels from the side of the car, you can't move the upper ball joint towards the front or rear of the car, and likewise for the lower...

Why are magnum center caps so long? (they don't need to be)

That's the question. Why are the center caps so long when they don't need to be? I think the wheels would look a lot better if the center caps were half or even a third the length. I'm going to have some examples 3-D printed and see how they'd look. I finally have mounted a pair of...

Steering wheel wants to turn right while idling, steering gear adustment or front-end alignment?

1967 Monaco. Front stub replaced, steering gear moved to new stub. No alignment done (yet). Tie rod adjusters adjusted by eye. Upper control arm bolts tightened in center positions. All new bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. Torsion bar height adjustments made. Front end has...

Installing torsion bars - no instructions on clocking them correctly or evenly into the LCA ???

I've just finished installing UCA, LCA, T-bars, knuckle / brake backing plate / lower ball joint / shocks. T-bars are not loaded. But I notice now that the adjuster arms that come off the pivot shaft are not symetrical. In other words, I'd have to screw one of the adjuster bolts in quite a...

When did lower control arm pivot shaft lose the cotter pin?

I'm just wondering what year did the pivot shaft lose the cotter pin. Below is an example: On the right, the shaft with the hole was original to my '67 Monaco. The refurbished LCA and shaft on the left is what I'm going with. I hadn't noticed the difference until now, maybe this can help...

    Steering gear seal question

I assume I can "extract" this seal (say, with an ice pick) without taking the unit apart? Similar to the transmission gear selector shaft seal? I see rockauto has about a dozen options for this seal. Too bad it's not included in this kit: I assume to put any of those o-rings to use...
