    Lost all power honking horn

If there is no power to the starter relay, these are the places that could have bad connections: 1. Positive battery terminal. 2. Negative battery terminal. 3. Ground cable to the block 4. Ground strap from block to chassis. (both ends) 5. The relay itself might not be grounded. That's the...

    Lost all power honking horn

And the ammeter could be easily checked. If we jump the poles on the starter relay and it tries to start (make sure it's in park), then it's likely to be the ammeter because the starter does not go through the ammeter. But, if there's nothing when you do that as well, we know there is not...

    1963 Imperial 413 Engine

And maybe my perspective is skewed because of recent debacles I had, but a common vacuum leak on these is the power brake booster. You can't get new ones and they're expensive to rebuild. You could start by plugging that vacuum port on the intake manifold and see if the issue goes away.

    1963 Imperial 413 Engine

When you increase the rpm’s, do they stay up for a while? We’re I you I think I might be looking for a vacuum leak. I know that’s not ‘loading up’ but sometimes it seems similar.

Distributor vacuum port touching radiator hose.

Is there a reason to not just move all of the plug wires a couple of spaces down?

    Headliner Failing

Well, my beautiful bride had a curved needle. And… as expected, it looks like a first grader did it. But the fabric didn’t crumble. I think somebody that is better than me could do a passable job. I didn’t take a picture of my finished work because I’m not much good at such things. But...

    Headliner Failing

Actually the foam above looks pretty nice. Already touched it :) One of the things that perplexes me about this car is that little things like that all seem to be less degraded than expected in a 60 year old car. That's why I was so disheartened when this happened. Sometimes I'm convinced...

    Headliner Failing

I did suspect this would be the consensus. But... I really do just like to drive my cars. I'm not winning a show. I may try some half-baked solutions and then once cold weather hits again see what I can do. I do appreciate the input.

    Brake Booster Parts

FYI -- after I lengthened that rod, it didn't seem like the brakes were hanging but after driving for a period I smelled burning brakes. So, I adjusted the rod back in. Total adjustment out was actually probably about 1/8". I've put about a hundred miles on it, now, and the pedal returns to...

    Headliner Failing

We were driving down the highway today with the windows down on my '64 Newport and enjoying the ND weather when I noticed a piece of my headliner flopping in the wind. I'm not real happy about this. I appreciate a good interior, but have never done any interior work. Anybody have any good ideas...

    Brake Booster Parts

It seems like I have made progress. As @Sixpactogo suggested, there is some adjustment. I didn't recall changing the length of the rod, and also didn't consult the FSM -- but logically it seemed like if I made the rod a little longer it would seem to be less likely that if I left it parked after...

    Brake Booster Parts

I considered that. Also, though, I did spray some lubricant on the pedal linkage and that did seem to help. I think I'll drive it a bit and see how it goes. Thank you for the input.

    Brake Booster Parts

I'm going to put another plug for Harmon Classic Brakes. If you follow this thread, I ordered the kit on Thursday. It arrived yesterday. I put it in this morning. There's no great trick. They had copies of the appropriate pages from the service manual in the kit. The biggest issue was getting...

    Brake Booster Parts

Home - Harmon Classic Brakes Questions emailed back and forth were done well and professionally. I will suggest, though, that the kit wasn't cheap. Part # 62-745.

Well, I've got a kit ordered. We'll see how it goes. I appreciate the input.

    Brake Booster Parts

No... I don't think so. This one is inside the booster. You cannot see it without opening up the booster. With this crack, vacuum will directly leak into where the rod goes. You can see the other half of the booster with the vacuum check valve lying on the bench. That is what covers this up.

    Brake Booster Parts

Hello all. I've got a 1964 Newport that I thought was in need of a Power Brake Booster. I pulled it with the intention of getting it to Booster Dewey. Noticing that this is fairly easy to get apart, though, I thought I'd see what I had inside first. Interestingly, it looks like almost all...

    C body plant to close

It is sad to see the ICE cars go the way of the horse and buggy -- which they certainly will for the same reasons and potentially with some of the same negative consequences. After all, horses lost their jobs, too, and saw a significant population decline. Not to mention the blacksmiths and...
