Anyone Know Any Details About This Terrible Tragedy?

Probably on route to/from a marshaling yard where they assemble loads of different vehicles for shipment to different regions. That's why there could be some end-of-1969 vehicles in the load.

    Epic Whoops thread.

This just happened on I-95 in the next County south of me that has a few flight schools. Just a matter of time with these small planes, mark my words. I think I counted 5 small planes dropping out of the sky in Volusia County last year, some died, some didn't. This afternoons...

    440 Piston Recommendations

I really don't have much to say on it these days. I've seen octane numbers dropping on the ethanol free gas around here, so my thoughts are on keeping compression down a little rather than up. The '70 six pack engine had a zero deck piston, compared to .017" for the 4 bbl version (or the '69...

    440 identification inquiry

IF it is even stamped, a '68 VIN will be on the back of the block by the oil sending unit. 69 and later will be on a pad on the passenger's side of the block. A partial VIN can narrow down what the engine came out of as we know what plants built what cars for each model year. After that, if...

    Alternator Brushes

That's how I've been doing it - for my 383 I wedge it between the block and the alternator and push the alternator out/up as much as I can while I tighten up the bolt.

    Alternator Brushes

Catches on the fins. AFAIK, it fits everything with that style alternator. I've seen crowbars crack the cases on the alternators, so I always used to just pull on them while tightening the clamp bolt. It's a little hard for me to do that these days, so the tool comes in real handy.

    440 Piston Recommendations

Thanks for further explaining your situation and considerations for your engine. Mission creep......yeah. I have never seen positive-deck pistons in anything other that full-on race engines, but then again I haven't seen everything. I betcha @Big_John has some useful advice. He knows...

Electric Car Fire at my Neighbors

I've seen a lot of irresponsible renters. Another problem is a lot of landlords won't return deposits, finding some excuse or another. From what I've seen, people renting homes around here are usually people that can't get financed to buy a house. Rent is probably going to be ~$3k plus...
