    Radiator Advice

MANY radiator companies have a section in the back of the catalog with radiator specs and images of each of the part numbers they sell. Look THERE and see what their listed part number really is. Go from there. CBODY67

    Water Valve Leaking

Check Rock Auto for an aftermarket unit. One with a fresher seal on the flap door in the valve. NOS might be fine and more money, BUT the seals in it will be as old as the car. You know what rubber does as it ages? Reality is that many OEMs used such a vac-operated (or even manual cable...

rebuilt 301 vibrates at around 3k RPM or 40 mph

Obviously, the idle mixture needs to be better-adjusted, BUT that has no bearing on what's happening at 1500-2000+rpm. Lightly-seat each idle mixture screw, noting how many turns it takes to get there. Then, from the lightly-seated position, turn each one out 1.5 turns. Then start the engine...

Wrong brake booster? Holes dont line up

Unfortunately, those stampings do not always equate a full Chrysler part number, like would be in the Chrysler parts book. They can also relate to just that ONE part of the assy, if the rear part was more generic and went to other brands of vehicles. Thanks for the pictures! CBODY67

Pictures of the 62 Chrysler 300

Thanks for the progress report. It'll be good when done! I suspect the mirror mounting rust is because they probably just "hole punched" the fender when the outside rear view mirror was installed, way back then. Enjoy! CBODY67

    Shaking!

One MORE reason to get the car on a body-contact lift, rather than on jackstands.

    Timed or Ported Vacuum advance

What you have pointed out is how you compensated for the fuels in your area by tuning the advance curve to allow for such. Additionally the need for LESS advance to decrease pinging on acceleration. Whereas all of the "drag racing"-oriented advance curves are about MORE advance SOONER and a...

    Timed or Ported Vacuum advance

If the motor pings, back the timing back and see where it ends up. Remember you are trying to make a high compression motor run on what was sub-regular octane gas (when the car was built). You HAVE to take that into consideration. CBODY67

    1961 Newport oil pan

I know we are supposed to trust aftermarket vendors' parts listings, but sometimes THEY are going on "hearsay evidence" themselves. Nor do they have the capabilities of researching their listings for accuracy, typically. So best for them to delete something rather than say it will work and it...

    Windscreen Dodge 68 2-door hardtop

Recalling the threads in here on windshields, the difference is not with the Brand of C-body car, but the body style of the C-body car in the Slabs era. Meaning that Hardtops and Convertibles might be one part number and sedans and wagons the other part number. Then there is the Fast top which...

    1961 Newport oil pan

Just thinking, but for full-size Chrysler cars, I would suspect the major platform change (at least in body shapes and such) happened with the '63 cars, with the '62 and prior full-size cars being the same? Non-Imperial, that is. With the '63 full-size Plymouth and Dodges laying the groundwork...

    Is this my spare?

It's the center section that looks like a 1972-era 15" wheel to me. All drum brake C-bodies were 14" prior to the Fuselage models. 15" wheels were only on disc brake C-body cars from '66-'68, when the 15" wheels were needed to clear the 4-piston disc brake calipers. CBODY67

    Blower motor trouble shooting

Look in the FSM for what is in the place of the normal "blower motor resistor" that varies the fan speeds on the AT II system. Whatever there might be that does that will be between the inst panel blower switch and the motor itself. Not sure if that is a part of the AT II module or not. I...

    Shaking!

It would take a LOT of wobble in the ps pump pulley to cause a shaking you could feel, much less not throw the belt. Some reman ps pumps whine as a seemingly normal situation. Get the car on a body-contact lift and have somebody sit in the driver's seat to work the transmission linkage with...
