    1967-68 6 way seats question

I can see that switch being for '67, but I'm not so sure about '68.

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

1967 and 1968 Dodge Monaco's / Polara's had radio's with thumb wheels. The only difference between them is that the '68 radio has a chrome-plated metal frame and hood around the dial and push buttons - built into the face of the radio. I posted pictures above that show that. That effect was...

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

Why aren't the P/N of factory installed radios listed in parts catalogs? Is it because unlike any number of other parts, you can't actually buy from a dealer the exact same radio that was installed on the assembly line?

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

The 1967 catalog P/N for a basic AM radio is 2820633. Web searches for that turns up nothing. When you look for 1967 Dodge radio, one hit on ebay gives a used (and rusted) radio with 2771 298 stamped in ink on the side of the radio (the seller in this case is in Canada). Does 2771298 show up...

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

By the way (I just stumbled across this, not related to this radio) - what did the radio foot control switch do?

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

I've asked the seller why is there no photo of the actual radio, he says he doesn't want to open the box (yes, I'm rolling my eyes too) but he sends me a link to a photo of the dash-installed radio (not an under-dash mounted radio). Looking at the 1967 Chrysler parts catalog, radio group...

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

Why would this radio be an "aftermarket" radio? To me, an aftermarket car radio is a radio that can be installed in the correct dashboard location and without hacking up the dash bezel. Now, today and for the past what - 30 years? - radio openings and mountings have been standardized to have a...

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

I have a radio, I'm not interested in this one. I was curious if there was a different P/N for '67 vs '68, but then you go down the rabbit hole of the 2.5 watt vs 5 watt versions (for driving a rear speaker yes?). The dashboard bezels for '67 - '68 are identical so I assumed that the radios...

Question about '68 Monaco/Polara AM radio PN 2649965

Someone on FB (in Canada) is selling what looks like an NOS radio PN 2649965, right on the box it says "All 1968 Dodge Polara and Monaco". I was wondering why it wouldn't say 1967 - 1968 since the radio's are physically the same. ? Asking price is $300 (CAD). They don't want to take it out of...

    1967 Radio & Speakers

From their website: "Both of your radio's stereo channels will connect directly to one of our DVC speakers which are available in 6”x9”, 5”x7” and 4”x10” sizes." They call it a "dual voice-coil" speaker. Tri-axial speakers have been around for at least 30 years - to be used in pairs because...

    1967 Radio & Speakers

I'm not sure I get the point of a 6x9 or 4x10 (what is the size of the single dash speaker for '67?) that has 2 voice coils (presumably for mid to high range) mounted over a single ? low-range "woofer" - if I'm correctly understanding the construction of the Retro-radio speakers. The woofer...

    1967 Radio & Speakers

Having never owned a convertible, I'm completely unaware as to how / where they would mount a rear speaker. You say you have one mounted in the seat back? Can someone speak to that? There is a dashboard-mounted fader control, to balance sound output between the dash speaker and rear package...

Heater core leak on my new carpet

If you have a shop vac, I'd soak the area with water and then use the shop vac to dry it and basically keep doing the same, alternate soaking with water and vaccing it up. I don't think using soap will help, the ethelyene glycol is easily dissoved in water so you don't need the soap to do...

Best suggestions for period floor mats

I bookmarked this place a while ago, I might at some point ask them if they make reproduction non-carpet-backed rubber or vinyl floor mats: https://www.nosreproductions.com They do appear to make correct-fitting old car floor mats, maybe carpet-backed? I'm not seeing the single 1-piece mat...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

My original non-tilt wheel does fit the splines of the TT column. Interestingly, the retaining nut (which seems to be 1/2 ID) is slightly too small so I'd have to source a slightly larger nut. When I measure from one of the column mounting bolt holes under the dash to the front edge of the...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I'm going to have to figure out how to pull the steering wheel off the column. I must have did it once upon a time way back. Next time I'm at the car I'll bring some pullers and putz with it. The ring and ornament in the above photos are spares that I have in the basement. Yes, the bolt...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Yes! I peeled the plastic cover open a little - and the mesh was under it! So project TT-Column is back on! I'm going to try this: Why wouldn't that work?

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I note that the non-TT original column in my '67 Monaco is the mesh / safety column. When it comes to the TT columns - did they ever put a safety TT column in any '67 C-body? It's too bad this isn't a safety column. Makes me think twice if I want to put it in.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

This is a full pic of the TT column I have: I guess it's a solid column? Not safety (no mesh?). Would this confirm it was a '67 column. Would '68 definately have a mesh outer tube?
