Leaky Rear Window - '66 Newport

So, after many months of speculation, I've now confirmed that my rear window leaks water into the trunk. What to do? I can see that someone, at sometime in the past, did some sort of repair to the seal, as some black rtv-like substance can be seen, but no other details are available. I'm...

    Suspension help? On a 68 300 convertible

If you haven't downloaded the PDF version of the factory service manual (FSM) from mymopar.com yet, you should do it when you get a chance. That will show you exactly what the rear suspension was supposed to look like, and how to adjust/repair it. Something I've learned here is that people are...

    Rubber or Carpet Trunk Mat?

If it's always garaged and never exposed to rain, rubber would be more correct. I'm not sure that there is a correct "repop" of the '66 Chrysler mats - I've seen Dodge and Plymouth versions which have different "patterns." When I got my first '66 Newport, the rubber mat was in about 500 little...

    Suspension help? On a 68 300 convertible

I can't answer your question authoritatively, but I don't think coil-overs were original. Your car is beautiful! Wait for one of the "old guys with a hat" to answer - they are rarely wrong about anything related to C Bodies (I'm still learning).

    Repairable? Dent in wheel …

I was gonna say, they not real available in the Pacific Northwest where I live. Cost me $150 out the door, and $30 to fix the bent rim.

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Quarter windows now properly repaired and 100% functional! Last year I attempted to repair the broken quarter windows on my '66 Newport. I was somewhat successful in as much as they would go down, but they wouldn't always come back up due to some incorrect replacement parts. All of that has...

What type of clips were used to hold the package tray in place? Here is the underside of my original showing the clip retainers.

    66 Chrysler Door Panel Restoration

Ah, it was so crusty I couldn’t see them!

    66 Chrysler Door Panel Restoration

I can't believe they riveted the lens directly to that material (fiber board?) without so much as a steel washer or anything for backing . . .

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Warning: Graphic Content. While making some adjustments to the drivers side mirror so that the wing window would not hit the mirror when opening it, I discovered the underside of the drivers door looks like a scene from “when blackheads attack.” I’m not sure how the top of the door would get...

    '66 Newport 2 Door hardtop

Summer break has arrived so the first thing I’m doing is installing new cat whiskers on the front door windows.

    Front door glass adjustment

Ok, I"ll read the FSM about tweaking the vent frame. There's a lot of play in the whole assembly. I can move the glass up and down about a half inch and the regulator parts go with it. Could be wear in the whole thing allowing it to sag.

    Front door glass adjustment

It’s about 3/8 of an inch at the top and bottom. Seems to be even all the way from the top to the bottom.

    Front door glass adjustment

The front door glass on the passenger side of my 66 Newport is about a half inch lower in the rear and then it is in the front. I didn’t see anything in the FSM about adjusting that. Does anyone have any insight on how that can be remedied? The gap creates wind noise and allows water to leak in...

    Vent/wing window lubrication?

I'm taking the front door panels off of my 66 Newport 2 door in order to replace the cat whiskers, make some adjustments to the glass alignment, lubricate the window regulator and door locks, replace the armrest bases and replace the cracked/missing window crank spacers. While I have it all...

    Repairable? Dent in wheel …

We've got a "wheel" repair shop here in town that I"ll take it to on Monday and see what they want. I'm guessing $50 . . .

    Repairable? Dent in wheel …

Picked up this set of four 15 x 7“ wheels from a 80s Fifth Avenue. Just noticed there’s a bit of a dent in one of the rims. Can it be repaired?

    seat belt retainers

Did our beautiful Slab Sides have anything to keep the rear seat belts from sliding down into the crack between the rear seat back and seat bottom when new? Or was it just such a tight fit that they wouldn't slip down and get lost in "Narnia?" Perhaps my rear seat bottom has too big a gap . . .
