Save yourself some grief and get the dual diaphragm booster when you install front discs. Here is the reason. Drum brakes require about 400 PSI and that is about all you can get from your single diaphragm booster. Discs require almost 900 PSI. Chrysler fixed this problem for us when they started...

Good morning, all. I'm considering doing a Scarebird front disc brake conversion on my 68 Newport. I have recently, within the last two years had my brake booster rebuilt, (booster Dewey). It has less than 1k miles on it. My question is...is it absolutely necessary to use a disc brake booster...

Sweet ride, and i do like the pics, keep em' coming. The more i drive my 2dr Newport, the more i wish it was a 4dr ! Keep rollin' and don't give up, you have a good car to start off with, and that's a very big plus.

From much earlier times, it has been more desirable for the front end of the vehicle to slide first in a fast cornering maneuver. That gets the driver's attention as they can see and hear it coming from tire sounds of slippage, so they reflexively slow down to stop/decrease the tire sounds...
