Just bought a 78 New Yorker

Apparently, if you're thinking that the skirts fasten with the single swinging latch attaching to the rear quarter wheel lip, this is different. I don't know what year Chrysler changed to the "1978 way". Look at these "For Sale" on Ebay, zoom into the back and look at the two clips that guide...

No, the rear quarter sheet metal has an approx. 1/3" indent that the skirt covers. If you look closely at the two clips, they provide pressure to the inside of the wheel well/wheel tub to hold it tight. The front of the skirt guide pins go in first, then the two clips holding it tight, and...

Those fender skirts may not work here, why? if there is a wheel lip for the screws to go into for the rear wheel trim. That is typically about 1/2" wide and cars with skirts have no wheel lip. Look at your skirts to see what I mean. The top two fasteners slide to the inside top of the rear quarter.

Welcome and it looks great. Don't underestimate professional buffing. It is cheaper than a complete paint job. If you are wondering what it would look like with fender skirts, here is my car.

I prefer the look of the padded vinyl top. It sets the car apart from others in that era.

1975 Imperial sunroof gear has stripped

I don't remember plus don't remember if covered in the factory service manual. With the roof open take a small amount of water while the car is on a level surface. See if the water pools on the front corners by the drain holes. If so take a small short piece of hose attached to an air compressor...

1975 Imperial sunroof gear has stripped

I don't have the problems you describe but can you manually close/open it with the manual crank used in the round access hole in front of the sunroof inside? If so you can then test to see if the drain lines are plugged.

About six years ago when the mechanic diagnosed the problem I checked every source I could think of and no one had one. I also went to the radiator repair place that has been in business for almost 100 years and they could not find one also. So, when I saw they were being reproduced again last...

I purchased this car about eight years ago. It was originally my friend's car new and he died in 1990. I was going through my divorce and could not buy anything and I lost contact with the new owner. The car was listed for sale on craigslist about 15 years later and purchased it. Well, it took...

wow, original floormats.....take them out of the car and spray liberally with "Armorall" or a similar product and let it soak in for a day or so. Wipe off the excess and your faded maroon floormats will be as dark as the seats (as new).
