Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

That's interesting. I am running that later style steering box. I just put it on and haven't put a lot of miles on it but so far so good. Since I posted that picture of the threaded bolt I've run another couple of passes with the welder down each side of them. I'm thinking my next move would...

Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

Thank you for sharing your experience Fury Fan, and the in depth reply. I ask for Mid 70's Cordoba when I need replacement parts, thanks to information provided from forum members. This build was done about 35-40 years ago, pre-internet days, before you could get lots of ideas and parts at the...

    The unknown control arm

Since the verdict seems to still be up in the air about what this suspension is out of, I've added a picture from underneath.

    The unknown control arm

Thank all you guys very much. You're all above and beyond in my book. I've been bouncing off this problem for several weeks and many trips to the parts house. The mystery wouldn't have been solved without you's. And JustCarbs was right on the money. O'Reillys had the 1976-1979 Cordoba CAB and...

    The unknown control arm

That Ball joint that does fits also fits a long long list of vehicles, all which seem to circle back to the incorrect CAB bushing. It doesn't fit for a Fury iii though.

    The unknown control arm

I actually have the CAB for the Cordoba jc and its close. The OD on my CA bushing is 1.42 OD The Cordoba bushing (which is also Dodge Dakota pickup) is 1.35 OD.

    The unknown control arm

Torsion bars and all. I mentioned this in on the introduction post ( which is a no no as it turns out) Someone did mention van or truck. Unfortunately, 1/2 ton van or truck control arm bushing part number comes back to the #12227 which is not a fit .

    The unknown control arm

As I mentioned, the Napa ball joint #10162 ball joint did fit. ( although the socket was not to be found. I took the smaller socket and a rotary cutting bit and opened up the smaller socket to make it fit) New ball joint on the left, old one on the right.

    The unknown control arm

As I mention elsewhere, I bought a hot rod with a (supposedly) 69 Fury iii front suspension. I need to replace the upper control arm bushings prior to taking this vehicle on about a 6000 mile road trip. The builder is deceased. The Napa part # 12227 bushing which fits fury iii is not correct...

Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

Thanks RD. That tells me more than I knew. I've tried 3 different part # upper control arm bushings. The OD has been different. 2 sets with the same part #, one set would slip easily over the connecter rod but the other wouldn't. Crazy. smh.

Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

Not many. The numbers off the disc brake calipers led back to a 5th Avenue. This is what I'm working with, if anyone recognizes it.

Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

Although it has a 41 front clip it is a 46. The old boy that had it for 52 years really put it through some changes. I got a file of receipts, notes, and repairs he'd had done. He mentions 69 Fury iii in the notes. I'm attempting to rebuild the upper control arms and the parts don't match that...

Hello all. I have 46 Hudson pickup with a Mopar clip..

Hello everybody. I bought a 1946 Hudson pickup with a (supposedly) 1969 Plymouth Fury iii front clip welded in and a 69 Monaco Trac-Loc rear diff with a 3:23 gear ratio and 1985 5th Avenue front disc brakes It had the same owner for 52 years and he's deceased now, so I'm trying to unravel the...
