    Voltage regulator

If its the "mechanical" type old school regulator.. Did the new regulator fail when it smoked? or does it still give you 14V? maybe it was simply burning off whatever residue on the current carrying conductors. if so the smoke will stop when the oil or whatever burns off. run it while watching...

    Lug nut studs.

A press would be best but a big hammer can work if nothing else. The holes have tiny splines and so do the studs. I f the splines are wiped out then the new studs will turn also.

What did you do to your C-body today....

This has been my summer project. The AZ body had a crumpled up pass side taillight, quarter. The MI car had a quarter with rusty rot at the bottom and wheel opening. I swapped the trunk lid because the other one wouldn't latch right, bent. I used the tail light and its' frame and the filler...

Techniques to remove the underbody protection?

I've done this from underneath, the car the jackstands. Best way I found after trying several things; as mentioned multiple times in prior posts... propane torch with a small flame or safer choice heat gun. It doesn't take much heat if its smoking its too hot. Wave the heat across the area you...
