There are two different sizes of thrust bearings. I don't know what year they changed. The smaller diameter flange will fit any RB block but the larger diameter will only fit on the blocks machined for the larger diameter. Just make certain that the thrust bearing fits your engine.

Pressure wise, both ports are the same. If you unplug one of the wires of the switch, do the brake lights go off? If so, it is definitely a bad switch.

Well, for one thing, the transmission behind the 318 will not bolt up to a 440 block. Radiator inlet/outlet may be different, you'll have to check what you have against a big block (outlet is usually on driver side). I am uncertain about the engine mounts as I have a 65 and the big block...

The lights and main electrical power to the harness are protected by special "fuse wires" called fusible links. Typically coming off either the battery positive cable or the battery power stud on the start relay or starter. You can find them (in the engine compartment) by looking for a tab...

You should also tap it with a hammer as you are pulling, that usually helps as well.

Back in the 89's, I put new rear leaf springs on my 65 Sport Fury that were for a 68/69 Road Runner. They had the exact same measurements. Jus sayin.....

Using an infrared temp gun, compare the temps of the exhaust manifolds at each exhaust port. If one is different than the rest, that cylinder is likely misfiring. You can also use a squirt gun and squirt water at each port, a 'normal' firing cylinder will immediately vaporize, a dead cylinder...
